A Message From Your CP: This is the End, My Only Friend

Day 622, 06:37 Published in Philippines Philippines by HazzN
Citizens of the Philippines

My term is drawing to a close, and I will not be standing for re-election. I'm getting married late August, and would never be able to dedicate the sort of time to the Philippines that I have been able to this month. It has been a very productive month, and I am very proud of what I have achieved with the help of my Cabinet Team and their Staff.

Without further ado, my memoirs:

Opened the University of the Philippines

Mr. Dimagiba 2.0 was chosen to head the Education Team, that really did the leg work for this project. Already lecture notes have been written up by members of his Faculty, and new citizens were recruited from in-game to teach them about the ins and outs of eRepublik. The plan was simple, citizens would be encouraged by the knowledge of all that they can achieve, stay longer and become more involved. It seems to have worked to an extent, and I hope that in future months the University will become higher profile and be able to reach every Filipino Citizen as they join the game.

Opened the National Museum of the Philippines

Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. - Winston Churchill.

The Philippines has had a rough start to eLife, and I do not believe that the struggle of our people should ever be forgotten. Citizens were invited to add news articles and reports of past events to the Museum, to chronicle the birth and life of the Philippines. My hope is that in the future, more people will add to this facility, and young citizens will read with interest everything that came before them.

Opened the National Art Gallery of the Philippines

In my mind, eRepublik is not just about politics and military, it is about culture. We choose to live in the Philippines and so things should be done in a Filipino way. There are many talented people living in on these shores, and their art can depict better than words how we live. We have had some great entries posted in the Art Gallery, I look forward to seeing more.

Opened the Ministry of Merriment

One of my concerns when stepping into office was the general inactivity amongst our citizens. The Ministry of Merriment was an attempt to add an extra dimension to the eRepublik game, as well as helping us raise money for PhilHealth. We have already has some success, and a IRC channel has been opened especially for Quiz Games and other fun activities. As the Ministry gets more recognised and gains profile, I hope that activities will become more available and allow everyone to enjoy eRepublik that little bit more.

Started the First Official Money Market Benchmark

Our Money Market was largely unstable. This wasn't helped by external factors deliberately trying to tank our economy. However, the Benchmark has helped stabilise what was once a floundering market. Though it has not been perfect, we have done our best to combat the situation and things are getting better. A vigilant Director of Finance will need to be employed next month to ensure all our good work does not go to waste.

Secured a Q3 Weapons Stock Pile for our troops

In my manifesto, I suggested that I would start a Q3 company to help further supply our troops. However, having looked at the situation at hand, it became apparent that our work force was stretched to the max already. Because of this, a Stock Pile was secured abroad, so as not to take workers from pre-existing manufacturing companies.

Joined the Sol Alliance

I worked very hard in Foreign Affairs this month, possibly to the annoyance of our Director of Foreign Affairs, but to me this seemed like the best area to focus my attention. The running of the Philippines ticks over quite nicely, but without making any impact on the world around us, we can not hope to move forward. The leg work involved in joining PEACE was all made by Big Boy Bulley, and I would not attempt to claim any credit for this. It was a bold move, and a good one that secured our safety. However, PEACE won't be around forever, which is why I worked hard to make ties with our local nations. It was these good relations with China, Malaysia and [the non-PTO'd half of] Thailand that brought us the latest Training Wars. It will also allow us to other more enjoyable pastimes, such as international competitions and games.

The Training War
Perhaps this is the big one. The Training War makes life interesting, it provides free wellness, experience points and battle points to our citizens. On the whole it makes them more active and productive then before. This can only be considered a good thing. We have a little fun too. Well worth it.

Secured a Q5 Hospital

And finally, with the money raised by you lot for the PhilHealth project, we now have enough for a Q5 hospital. A contract has been signed with the government of Bosnia, and within the next few days it will be available to build. This is a revolutionary moment for us. Most countries of our size can not hope for a Q5 hospital. I hope there will be another one coming in the future. Keep raising cash people, and enjoy the extra wellness.

Well that's about a wrap I think. I have two more days of my term, and I am unsure what else I can accomplish in this time. However I will be around until the end, and then I shall be waving the Filipino flag whilst fighting abroad. Good luck and God speed.
