I am in favor a bigger active population and I plan to involve the government in programs that will help realize this.

Why is a bigger population important?

A bigger active population means more workers, which means more taxpayers, which means more money for the government to spend on hospitals, war games, defense systems, currency regulation, and many other things.

Furthermore, a bigger active population means a higher demand for products in the marketplace, which means that more local and foreign investors will want to put up businesses here, which means prices of commodities will go down because of increased competition.

Moreover, a bigger active population means a larger active military force, which means we can all sleep soundly at night with the knowledge that we have more troops on patrol to keep our borders safe and, when necessary, flex our military muscle on the international stage.

Lastly, a bigger active population means more active voters who read the news and think twice before they vote, which means effective civil servants, congressmen and journalists can actually gain a loyal following during elections, which means political stability because the people who will be voted into Congress ought to be there, and prevent tragedies and political takeovers of the past from ever happening again.

Where we stand

The Philippines is ranked 45th out of 61 countries in terms of population.

We are ranked 50th in experience points, and 37th in average strength.

What I plan to do about it

In the past, I have supported and participated in private endeavors to attract new players to eRepublik, such as Prince Terence I's Alay Kay Juan Foundation and Nina Ayu's Baby Boom Project. Undertakings like these can be more effective when centralized and given government support.

I therefore proposed the formation of a Department of Pan-Dimensional Affairs, a team of advertising- and marketing-savvy individuals whose aim is to attract new players to ePhilippines by spamming high-traffic external community sites, and other activities that will promote ePhilippines in the real world.

However, this will not be enough. New players start at zero experience points and will not immediately contribute to our world XP ranking.

In order to quickly increase our rankings, we will need to repatriate real-life Filipino players living abroad, as well as attract real-life foreigners to the country.

Not only will these people bring experience points with them, but also high damage scores, high working skill levels, and in-game experience and know-how, ideas that they can bring to the table for the betterment of our country.

I therefore propose the launching of a repatriation and immigration media and ad campaign to be undertaken by a resurrected Philippine Press Club in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs and, potentially, our local political parties.

In my next article, we will discuss how, once we have attracted new players to ePhilippines, we can encourage them to play longer.
