Senate Review
Melchizedek Smith
When first elected Party President of the Australian Independents Party (AIP) I made the following promise:
I will keep an official log of all elected senators both from the AIP and all other parties, and their candidate platform. Details will be published and updated regularly with links to the senate and voting hall library in order that citizens can see the impact that their elected officials are having. This should perhaps serve as a warning to the senate that the AIP will continue to ensure that the bastards are kept honest.
The following list details Senators and their input into the running of the country over the last 3 weeks. Note that I have listed Senators under their respective parties (that is the party they were listed with during the election) so that voters can easily track the activity of the Senator that they elected. I have also included the State in which the Senator originally ran.

Make of this information as you will. Many of these Senators may have justification for their actions or lack thereof so I would urge you to speak with them and be informed before voting in this coming election. Personally, considering the above information, I find it no surprise that there would be a public call for Senate reform. Unfortunately until the citizens elected are committed to the role, even with reform we can’t be guaranteed that the system will work. It begins with the public and it is your duty ensure that you elect the right people. As to the Senators themselves, know that you are under the microscope, and I would encourage you to strongly consider your commitment to eAustralia before running. Don’t just stamp “I support Senate reform” at the bottom of your election presentation. Start by reforming yourselves.
Melchizedek Smith,
Director ‘The Smith Family’
Senate Speaker
2x AIP Senator
2x AIP Party President
Comments
Great work, Melchizedek Smith.
You kept to YOUR promise of "keeping the bastards honest" 🙂
Great to have this much transparency, will certainly serve as a good voting tool.
"Don’t just stamp “I support Senate reform” at the bottom of your election presentation. Start by reforming yourselves."
I SUPPORT IT DAM IT.
but.. wow... voted up, all eAustralians need to know who they are voting for.
voted, this is incredibly useful.
This is a great analysis, maybe when elections come around you should post something like this again so that people who did not contribute are not voted back in and people who did contribute are. great work!
Of course, there is a description of one senator missing in the above post...
Melchizedek Smith: AIP.
Elected Senate Speaker, has continually been active and strived to comment on all proposals and discussion threads, both moderating in his role as Speaker, but also as a representative of the People (a tough thing to balance). Made a promise to monitor activity of senators and report to the people in the interests of Transparency and accountability, and has delivered on this promise. Most definitely one of THE most active Senators this term due to his high responsibility and dedication.
VOTED. And, you better run again Mister! xD
Agreed and Brilliant work Mel, however I suspect the senators will have litte to do with the Senate after this reform.
Excellent, excellent and excellent. This shows clearly we need the senate reform to keep senators active and keeping promises
Very very nice.
AA, I suspect those that are innactive won't hamper the government, while those who are active will hold a more valueable place in making decisions.
Let's not ruin this thread with Senate Reform discussion.
Great work again Mel!
This is a great idea, thanks Mel.
Great Article, and ill try my best to be more active in the future (I've started working recently, so its taking away eRep time)
"however his contribution is not always significant"
True, that was quite a flaw in my term in Congress/Senate/Large Building that now has Sofas.
I just want to add to it that, as it was my first time round I really held back a lot and a lot of things came to light, especially when it came to a lot of my promises (EG: Defence System)
Seems that it's actually harder then it looks, a lot harder 😛
I think that the most new senators gave themselves a good look Eg. ME, Timeoin Ollie chase(I think)😛
"If re-elected this term I will work on plans to get a defence system implemented."
I voted No as did 90% of voters did to purchasing/making a company to make Q5 defence systems at that time, not to the purchase of a defense system which is a lot different.
Other issues compelled us to vote no on this issue at this time.
These I did promise and did complete...
I will continue my work in the eMentor program helping new people.
I will agree to alliances that actively help eAustralia.
just to clear it up...
Otherwise excellent work
Excellent, top-class article. The effort put into this is amazing. Good on you Mel! We definitely need this article reposted closer to Senate election day 🙂
........ I'm speechless (that doesn't happen often 😛 ).
Awesome article, you managed to beat me to it 😉
Do this every term. If you can't I will.
I really don't mind who does this, as long as it's always this brilliant 😃
