War Games Are Great + Changes To New Citizen Message
Captain Briggs
They get new players like me leveled far quicker than without them. 🙂
Keep it up guys!

On a more serious matter, I think the 'new citizen message' should go through a few changes:
It should say where the Q5 hospitals are located; I accidentally fought in QLD only to find out it had no hospital so I had to beg for a moving ticket (which I got, thanks again BenP). It's important to learn this as quickly as possible so new players can learn to start saving for a MT or ask for one if they need it (should they be interested in wargames).
It should probably tell players to remember to ask for a raise once their skill increases, or failing that changing jobs; I only realised this today, and so I've been getting 1.3AUD since I started without realising I could be earning 5AUD a day by now.
It should also tell citizens to stock up on Q2 food with their new citizen money so they can work and train without losing much wellness and remind them that once their skill increases past 0, they start earning enough to continue to buy Q2 with money left over. Something I did actually do myself. Since people have been telling new players not to train until their skill increases (which is stupid), I find it important to include that.
Also, it should contain information to check the 'wars' page for any current wars, since it improves experience so quickly.
Helpful tips such as these would mean -should a citizen actually read the message- they can live far better lives in eRepublik and eAustralia.
The 'helpful eAustralia guide that everybody must read' is an awful, complicated, long-winded, linked-up mess (it may seem harsh but it's true), in which the 'getting started' part - the most important, includes no useful information at all. Including the above tips in the citizen message in short and concise ways would be far better for all new players, and you can still include the link if you like.

My first article... 😮
Good article mate, and some important points made that are worth addressing. I'll make sure that this article is brought to the attention of the senate immediately.
good article especially for a first keep it up
you can thank me for wargames 😉 😛
Thanks guys. 🙂

Good stuff, voted and subscribed. These are the problems that we need new eyes to see; we grognards take much of the game for granted.
I would also add a recommendation to specialise in your career, and an explanation of what that means: lots of people accidentally switch between Land,Manufacturing and Construction jobs, slowing their progress.
Ya, loving the wargames! The 5 weapon a day habit is starting to drain a little, but it is definately worth it! 🙂
Excellent Article!
Dobro 😉 *Claps*
This MoD term we will be working on Tutorials for the younger players so stay tuned!
Good ideas all. The current welcome PM is designed to get a player to the places where he can find all this out, as stone walling players with this info is very tough.
However it could be improved. Just a point about the things about wars. Usually it takes a week to get to level 5, give or take before you can fight. Is this info we need in the welcome PM, or from some other source?
Also remember that currently the MoCS also contacts new players with this sort of advice.
nice job Briggs.
Informing new citizens EARLY about being able to fight when they reach Level 5, may help to get them to stick it out until they reach that level.
Great article, covers issues that are experienced by many newbies such as I
Nice one and voted.
Good to see a new publisher any time and your article is relevant and interesting
No problem Briggs, glad I could help 🙂
well, its a fairly good article, and does raise some important issues, so well done in that respect 🙂
However, i must point out that cerri and sir C0nstant have been sending out messages to all the new players. (and im sure they would apologise if you were a new citizen before this eventuated!)
Updating the new citizen message is important, and i would encourage those with ideas to let me know. I did pm Briggs when he started, he was one of those who responded with questions 😉 but there is only so much information I can put in a PM before it becomes a wall of text. -I did tell you where the hospitals are though 😛
Nice article, i could of used some help when i started 😛 ( i was a bit confused) and i still pop the extra question here and there 🙂.
The message I got (yes from Cerri) was a long message about the forums, and then a bunch of links.
Too many links, not enough upfront information, is all I'm saying.
