Interview | Rageldo Dimagiba on Income Tax, BBB's Candidacy and the PFF

Day 498, 05:16 Published in Philippines Philippines by Swagger McSwag
The Outsider gets up close and personal with Luzon Representative and The Daily Coconut Editor-in-Chief Rageldo Dimagiba as he talks about the government's new fiscal policies, blitzwithlimes's support of Big Boy Bulley's presidential candidacy and the role of the PFF in Philippine politics.

So, why are you doing this interview?

This is a good chance to let the people know what we’re thinking and so that they can get to know us better.

Can I ask you a question?

Oh, yeah. Sure. What is it?

Why did you run for Congress?

I want to serve the country.

Why?

I would like to fix the damages left behind by the previous administration that plundered our national treasury.

Why?

So that the eLife in the Philippines would be better and we will become one of the superpowers in the world.

Why do you want this to happen?

It’s logical. I’m a Filipino and this is the Philippines.

What do you think of Congress’s decision to lower the minimum wage to 1 PHP?

It’s okay. I don’t think it’s a big deal.

What do you think of Congress’s move to lower the income tax on the food industry to 10%?

I think it’s better than before, but it should be lower so that we can encourage local entrepreneurs to open up Q2 and Q3 food companies. However, I think that the 50% import tax on food is beneficial for our local companies because it lessens competition from foreign companies.

What do you think of blitzwithlimes endorsement of Big Boy Bulley’s presidential candidacy?

I have no idea why he did that. He didn’t even tell us party members that he was going to do that. What he did was his personal decision and was done without the consultation of his party members.

The PFF was originally created as the indigenous answer to foreign-led political parties like the Partido Nacionalista, National People’s Coalition and the Filipino Green Party. Now that the FPM has gained the congressional majority, and has a very big chance at winning the presidency, what do you think is the role of the PFF today?

It’s the decision of the majority of the PFF members if they will choose to support or oppose the FPM. The PFF’s vision is to see the Philippines being governed effectively by Filipinos. Personally, whether I will oppose or support the FPM depends on the policies that they will implement and whether or not these will be beneficial to the Filipino public.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

My fellow Filipinos, please support me during the coming presidential elections.

What?!

Just kidding. Seriously, we in the PFF will always be here to help you. We will try our best to safeguard the interest of our constituents and make the Philippines a better place.

By the way, are you a fan of the late Fernando Poe, Jr.?

Yeah. Sure. He can be compared to Chuck Norris. He never loses. Ever.

Chuck Norris lost to Bruce Lee once.

That was someone who looked like Chuck Norris who lost to Bruce Lee.

Oh, I see. (loser)

(jerk)

Thanks for your time.

No problem. It was your time, too.

That was just a statement.

So was that.

Knock it off.

OK.
