The Eastern European War Rages On

Day 212, 12:42 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

Prague, Czech Republic- For almost three weeks now the war between Hungary and the Czech Republic has been going on. With 1,791 fights it has become one of the bloodiest conflicts in the history of Erepublik. What makes this war strange is the fact that no one really wants to fight it. Hungary the Attackers has said that they want peace now that they had already gotten the two Slovakian territories they were going for while the majority of citizens in the Czech Republic are clamoring for peace as well. However Yugi the president of the C.R. wants to annex to Hungary and thus because of one person the war can not end.

For those of you who do not know already Yugi is actually Brazilian and served in their department of defense. He then moved to the C.R. and became a party president and on June 1st he was elected president with seven votes so although it makes little sense a foreigner became president. Some doubt the fairness of this election but let it serve as a reminder to those who are new don't vote based on party line because you could be electing another Yugi.

The day Yugi took office Hungary declared war on the Czech Republic and hundreds of freedom fighters flocked to Austin to fight for the Czech Republic. At first the war was like a seesaw with the side that was defending always being the side that was winning. This continued for awhile and soon Hungary offered a proposal of peace to the Czech Republic. The peace could of been accepted and it would of saved alot of trouble for both sides but Yugi rejected it saying he wanted to annex with Hungary.

There had never been talks between the two nations of annexation and it was a slap in the face to those who worked hard to help develop the Czech Republic. Citizens of the C.R. such as Vaclav and Ivan Hat began working hard to build up international support for the Czech Republic and they soon found it. On June 5th the Czech Republic lost control over Slovakia and it appeared as if they had no chance of winning the war at all. Then the U.S. got involved and agreed to help defend the three remaining Czech territories for the next two days. It may of only been two days but their support helped the Czech Republic survive a key battle against Hungary and their Mediterranean allies.

With the U.S. gone and the economy weakened the Czech Republic found themselves in a difficult situation, it did not appear as if they could win the war. Then Hungary announced that it would halt its invasion as it had already achieved its goal of conquering Slovakia and this offered a huge break for the Czech. However the war was not over, although the Hungarian government had announced they would not continue the fight freelancers continued to fight and every other day there would be a key battle in Moravia with the C.R. just sliding by each time. Then on June 15th the tide began to turn and the freelancers for the Czech Republic began to out gun their Hungarian counter parts. This was probably due to the fact that their freelancers were living in the U.S. where the economy was not directly hit by the war and thus could afford new weapons and such. With this new advantage the freelancers took back Eastern Slovakia and Bratislava from Hungary which offset the two territories they lost at the start of the war.

Hungary was upset, they thought that the Czech Republic had taken advantage of their honorable offer of a ceasefire but unless the admins step in and do something it does not appear that they will get those regions back. The long war has ravaged the economies of both countries and with the shortage of weapons it appears that the defender will continue to have the strong advantage in this war as was seen today during Hungary's first attempt to retake the regions they lost

For the Czech Republic this has to be their light at the end of the tunnel. After June 5th all seemed lost for the Czech Republic. The past couple of weeks have been very frustrating for them as their country is on the brink both military wise and economically wise. Now there are only 12 days to the next general election and with many of the foreign fighters down in South Africa or Indonesia it will be hard for Hungary to get the support needed to get back on the offensive from the Mediterranean alliance.

On a side note some of you may have noticed I have not been writing articles as much as I used to. This is because I have started a new project, "The Complete Military History of Erepublik" It will contain stats, battle information, and a analysis of every war ever to take place in Erepublik. Seeing as there have been so many wars this will take awhile and I will not have time to dig up information like I normally do and write an article on it but I think it is important that we have a historical account of these wars. I will release the account of the first war soon to give you all a sample I hope to have this all done and released in one huge article by July 10th.
