[PotUS] The High Road

Day 3,149, 13:17 Published in USA USA by Yui MHCP001

Whenever I choose to do something, I like to believe that I do it because I fully believe in it, and that it’s the best course of action. I wish I could say that for others.

A few days ago, Tenshibo, who I once considered a good friend, published a hit piece on me. In it, he made multiple claims about the quality of my first term. He also used screenshots of the PDB, which are supposed to be kept private.

I shall not go into detail about what is true or false, but I will say that some of the screenshots were taken completely out of context, which doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.

I’ve been advised by multiple people to not respond to his article. I didn’t even plan to when I first read it, to be honest. I didn’t think that it would have any effect, given Tenshibo’s reputation with some of the community, and the way he “proved” his claims.

But I’ve decided to write one anyway, not for me, but because of the effect it had on someone else.

A month ago, in my first WTP thread about my campaign for the presidency, Hale26 brought up the actions of Sunshine, and how he was being put into Congress by the Feds, and my opinion on it. I didn’t approve of Sunshine’s actions, however I did say that I had no influence on the decision of the Feds to run Sunshine. This escalated and escalated, and turned into a Federalist vs We The People feud.

Tenshibo would go on to write an article, slamming WTP. It is true that I read it before it was published, essentially approved it, and bought votes for it, although these bought votes weren’t out of my pocket, they were out of Tenshibo’s. I also cancelled the order a few hours later, and sent Tenshibo his money.

The reason I cancelled it, was because of its’ last sentence.

“So, We the People, enjoy your cockroaches. Here in the Federalist Party, we’ll enjoy electing yet another Country President.”

When I pre-read it, I told Tenshibo I knew that would come to bite me in the arse when it came to getting the WTP nomination, but he reassured me that it wouldn’t, so I didn’t worry about it. At least, until I saw the reaction.

As soon as I saw WTP’s reaction, I went into damage control mode. Unfortunately, that damage control mode went a bit overboard.

I asked Tenshibo and the Feds to tone it down with WTP, and vice versa. But Tenshibo kept hammering it on and on, until I just boiled over. I saw my good friend and my Party President actively sabotaging, intentional or not, my chances at another party's’ nomination.

So I did what any other good friend would do, and told him to shut up for once.

He may or may not have taken that a bit personally. A few minutes after, he posted in Derphoof’s thread, who was one of my opponents last month, that he had his full support, which was a sudden change of heart.

Fast forward to this month’s campaign, and he’s in almost every thread going against me, I was surprised, I didn’t expect him to be my strongest opponent in my reelection, I just expected him to be one of them.

This all culminated into the hit piece article.

Now, like I said, this article isn’t for me. You may be wondering who it’s for.

It’s for Derphoof.

According to many people, Tenshibo’s article made up their minds on the election. But they made up their minds to not vote for Derphoof. I also heard that as a result of his article, people started campaigning for me in their respective parties.

To any other candidate, they’d be happy with this outcome. However I find it to be bittersweet. Derphoof is another person I’d consider a good friend, and having his campaign fail due to outside forces is something I never wanted to happen to him. He deserved to have a good, fair shot at the CP chair, especially after his quality campaign articles.

But it seems like Tenshibo took that from him.

I’d just like to thank Derphoof for this last week. I was looking forward to another clean election cycle, and except for that one little blip on the radar, it was fun.
