[DoF] Update Day 3148 - Pollution Solutions.

Day 3,146, 14:55 Published in Australia Australia by Reserve Bank of Australia

Extra Update: Based on the 22K in tax we have taken in 2 hours (likely due to many eIndonesian companies) I expect we will have a big jump in some pollution tomorrow.

Day 3148 Update:

Today pollution in WA Housing and SA Weapons generally trended down slightly, while TAS Food has shown slight gains, with a higher 5% gain in Q2 Food. I'm still seeing some volatility and would expect to do so for at least the first week after the changes.

Remember also you can place more than one industry type in a holding, so in some cases, it might be better to place for your main industry and then add the few companies you have for others into that holding also, rather than go to the expense of a new holding, and as you will see from current pollution levels, placing your companies in the highest bonus region may not always be the best option once pollution is applied.

You also can move your companies to another holding if things look less than ideal, but as mentioned before this can be expensive both for extra holdings, and for high tier factories especially, however for one or two low tier moving to an existing holding, not so much of an issue.

Northern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria still have no pollution to speak of (aside from NSW 0.1% in Q7 weapons).

Queensland has 2.04% in Q2 Food, (previously 1.6% and 1.77😵, and has today added 0.1% in Q1 Food and 0.59% in Q1 housing. Still all low levels, but it represents our highest polluted non resource holding region, likely due to the fact that it neighbours both eIndonesia and ePeru and is also our current capital.

Food pollution.

Pollution levels in Tasmania, our highest food bonus region are still much lower than the extra region bonus of 15%, but have seen a larger increase today.

FRM have now 0.39% (up from 0.06% and 0.07😵.

Q1 Food has 0.36%, up from the dip to 0% yesterday.

Q2 is the sharpest increase, up about 5% to 5.43% (previous 1.2% and 0.66😵.

Q3 is up to 0.19% after a drop to 0%

Q4 is up slightly to 2.03% (up form 0% and 1.66😵.

Q5 has it's first day of pollution at 0.19%

Q7-Q7 factories are still pollution free.

As more of the larger companies come online it is possible there may be more pollution, as seen in Q2 today, but I would still be surprised it it reaches 15%.

Weapons Pollution.

Pollution in South Australia has gone down slightly again and is now barely at a disadvantage compared to other regions. But with the spike in tax today, I think there could be a big change tomorrow, so I still think heavy investment carries a risk.

Q7 pollution is down again to 7.2% today (from 12% and 8.8😵, almost matched with the extra region bonus of 7%. It's still too early to predict long term, as the lower pollution may encourage more producers to set up here as opposed to other regions, which could raise pollution again.

Pollution from WRM is still 0% today the same as yesterday (day one was 0.04😵.

Pollution for Q1-Q6 weapons is still non-existent.

Housing Pollution.

Things have eased off for now. But Still no guarantees however that it still won't rise above the 10% extra region bonus in the long term. Tomorrow we will see the effects of that extra economic activity and how much of it is in WA.

Pollution on Q1 Houses in Western Australia is down again to 8.01% (previous 11.5% and 8.74😵.

Q2 has dropped to 2.28% after a high of 3.12% yesterday.

Q3 has gone down slightly. Q4 and Q5 have gone up slightly, but are still 3 are still below 1%.

HRM pollution has now dropped to 0% (1.6% and 1.1😵.

The Future.

I think if we are smart and maybe can work out some bonus sharing deals in the future with neighbours (watch this space) we can boost productivity a little further and also spread the pollution to keep it low.

There has also been talk by staff of possible region based taxes, although this may not even eventuate. We do still have many other options being discussed by the productivity commission, and how to counter pollution where it is higher than the extra region bonus will now be high on the agenda.
