[MoEd] Political FAQ

Day 3,066, 08:00 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Department for Education

Hello, welcome to another guide by your awesome Minister of Education, CheetahCurtis. In this guide we look at some of the most common questions asked by players about the political module. These questions are answered, you can look for a specific question or read the whole guide for a better view of the political module!

What can I actually do in the political module?
The main areas of the political module are party-based and national-based. National-based is Congress and the government and being a part of this means setting the laws of the country, choosing what schemes to hold for citizens and making the country a power on the world stage. Party-based is all about helping your party members gain prominence in the political scene and building a group that fights for political causes in the country.

Do I need to join a political party?
Not to play the game or be a part of the political module, but it opens many doors. Some advantages include being able to run for Congress or Country President, making allies and friends in the political game and having people to guide your political career. Not to mention helping out in a party gives you invaluable experience when in Congress or government.

So which party should I join?
The general advice is to experience a few parties before settling down in one, so you can get a feel of the community in them and the general policies they believe in. If you are looking to get into Congress, it would be better to get into a top 5 party however it is not always necessary.

Who or what are the top 5 parties?
The top 5 parties are the biggest five parties in the country by membership, which are also the five parties who can run their members in the Congress election. They sometimes allow members of parties outside the top 5 to run for Congress, but by game mechanics it is the top 5 parties who get the decision.

What is the difference between government and Congress?
Government is the political body consisting of the country president and their ministries (generally the ministries of defence, foreign affairs, home affairs, finance and education). Their role is to manage the day-to-day running of the country. Congress is the political body, usually of 40 members, which sets the laws and legislation of the country - which affect everybody.

What is legislation?
Legislation is the meta-laws set by Congress, made outside of the game so only have as much power as people give them. They are laws expected to be followed by Congress and the government (sometimes others), and deal with things such as dictatorship, government budgets, scrutiny and alliances. The current legislation can be found here.

How can I get into Congress or the government?
To get into Congress you need to choose the run by selecting the option between the 16th and 23rd of the month, as elections are on the 25th. Party presidents set the order of the list, the higher you are the better. You should talk to your party president about being high on the list but appearing active in many ways will help your chances. To get into government you must talk to the country president candidates and ask to be in their cabinet. You should state which ministry you would like to be in or what kind of work you would like to do, but the candidates will help you decide.

So that’s that! There are endless questions that could be asked about the political module but hopefully the main ones have been answered in this guide. If you have anymore questions about the political module please ask in the comments.
