24th Congressional Elections Results and Analysis
30 November 2009, Day 741 of the New World. The 24th Congress of the United States has been instated and begun to tasks of their branch of government. This Congressional election featured all fifty-one original regions of the United States back in United States control. No military threats to the mainland United States occurred during the elections, and no significant anti-PTO efforts were undertaken by American civilians. This election saw several races with light or even no competition, allowing them to be called well before polls opened.
The fifty-one elected representatives come from ten (possibly nine, see note about Nationalist Party) different political parties. The Green Party and the Umbrella Research Party are not represented in this Congress, but the United Independents Party returned with representatives, and the Democratic Party and Sons of Patton Party also earned seats this time.

America’s Advancement Party once again is the largest party in Congress, holding fourteen seats. The United States Workers Party trails close behind with thirteen (or twelve, after Minnesota left) seats. AAP won with five freshmen compared to USWP’s three. The Libertarian Party won seven seats, as did the Federalist Party. The Conservative Party, United Independents Party, Democratic Party, and Socialist Freedom Party each won two seats. The Nationalist Party retained its one seat, and the Sons of Patton won one.
For another month, many incumbents came back, and they overwhelmingly won their bids for reelection. More than half of this Congress also sat in the prior one.

Many non-incumbents with significant Congressional experience returned to the halls of Congress, including Dodgercatcher (USWP – KY) and Cromstar (CvP – PA).

All those freshmen don’t necessarily make this Congress a young one on average. The oldest member of Congress, Robert Loggia (UIP – DE), born Day 258, is actually a freshman. The other oldest members of the 24th Congress are Panther (USWP – TX), born Day 268, Killing Time (USWP – AR), born Day 304, Kyle321n (NP – CA), born Day 322, and AidenAstrup (UWSP – MA), born Day 329. The youngest five are five freshmen: Bekarius (Fed – IL), born Day 659, Illithian (UIP – OR), born Day 665, BTuck20 (AAP – IN), born Day 673, Maxx Johnson (AAP – AK), born Day 678, and Herrn Sterling (AAP – VT), born Day 692.

America’s Advancement Falls Back
Last month, America’s Advancement Party’s ticket won 22 races, 18 of them for their own candidates. This month, their own candidates only ran in 17 regions, winning 14 of them. This was largely due to a new Congressional election system and candidate vetting within America’s Advancement Party. This is a marked difference from the AAP of last month, which ran real candidates in almost all regions. Many incumbents did not return, and five of AAP’s 14 seats are freshmen.
United States Workers Party
The United States Workers Party had a larger number of strong incumbents returning, but could not match America’s Advancement Party’s performance with freshmen candidates. Only three of the 13 seats won by their party were freshmen.
Libertarian Party
The Libertarian Party did not seek to expand their Congressional representation but did change their lineup. Indrae, the only freshman on that ticket, won a bid to replace an ousted Libertarian Congressman in South Dakota. Zartemax was expected to attempt to hold down the Libertarians in Georgia, replacing Donutdude, but dropped out due to personal reasons. Oprah Winfrey was replaced with mjdiv, who lost the last two elections in New York, and ran in Rhode Island instead of Connecticut. The Libertarian Party also hosted two America’s Advancement Party candidates who were reelected.
Conservative Party
The Conservative Party’s sole incumbent failed to hold onto his seat. Cromstar, the Party President of the Conservative Party, returned to Congress representing Pennsylvania. He ran with the blessings and endorsements of many parties, including America’s Advancement Party, which did not return to Pennsylvania. The other CvP win was in Nebraska against at least two strong opponents.
Federalist Party
The Federalists attempted to expand on their five-state election strategy, now that they are a Top Five Party, by running in eight regions relatively unopposed. They won seven of them, including all of their incumbent regions.
United Independents Party
The United Independents Party, in their first election since being relegated to sixth-party status, ran six candidates, four of which were on the Federalist Party ticket. They managed to win Oregon in a contested race with the Conservative Party and Delaware with some last-minute action against America’s Advancement Party. Their other six races were also considered competitive races. The three out-of-party endorsements the UIP awarded all won.
Democratic Party
The Democratic Party sent forth four candidates for Congress all under the banner of America’s Advancement Party. They won two of those races, as political analysts predicted they would, but did not win the ones they were expected to. Democrats represent Hawai’i and New Jersey, with one of their strongest candidates losing a heated Nebraska race to the much larger Conservative Party.
Socialist Freedom Party
The Socialist Freedom Party put two freshmen candidates up for office, winning two seats for the first time. Phoenix Quinn, who lost but unfairly so in South Dakota last month, ousted a Conservative incumbent in North Dakota, and rainy sunday won a heated freshman competition in Connecticut. Every candidate sporting a Socialist Freedom Party endorsement was elected.
Nationalist Party
Kyle321n won his reelection in California against no serious competitors. However, he may not remain Nationalist Party for very long, instead sticking with the Federalist Party, which hosted him on election day, leaving the Nationalist Party to die.
Sons of Patton Party
The Sons of Patton entered Congress, winning their bid in Georgia. Zartemax, a Libertarian, was expected to be a strong challenger there, but even if he had not dropped out, it appears unlikely he could have answered Blanemcc’s support.

Excellent work! It's always fun to read these.

\O/ New Jersey rocks! Rhein-o great article! Very interesting to get the story on some of the races around the country.
Sons of Patton!!!
lol it took me so long to actually read this that by the time i was finished it had logged me out of my account :p
Good job btw, hit the post button too soon :p
Congrats to all the winners, mjdiv especially. Due to coming out of this with egg on my face, I'm not gonna run for Congress next month. Plus the next election runs on Christmas; I don't think a lot of people will be on in the first place.
blocker? is that unendorsed?
I'd like this article better if it didn't say I was soundly defeated.
Regardless, good info, great article!
@ 7227:
A "blocker" is a candidate who is sent by the party just to fill that space. He is welcomed on the ballot, but he isn't welcome to campaign, attract votes, or win. That would be silly.
A unsanctioned candidate got onto the ballot without the consent of that party. However, unlike the blocker, he has every intention of winning a Congressional seat. He probably brought his own voters and maybe got some local support, but he wasn't backed by a major party's voting force.
Very nice! Voted/subbed.
