*Note: after this interview was done the Vice President proposed Natural Enemy on eCuba so eUSA could take advantage of the remainder of this tournament. DiscoMusolini proposed it in eUSA’s Congressional forum and soon after proposed it in game.

The Minister of Defence of eCuba released this.

Personally, I was reaching out to eCuba for the first time to learn about what their priorities are for their country. Also, since eUSA needs an iron resource to get 100/100 resources (aka full bonses) I wanted to find out what their thoughts were. The following interview takes place with eCuba’s first and current Country President Albus Dumbledore.

Tell me a bit about yourself, your eLife (name), what country you played in before and why now eCuba?

*Im rl Cuban and I’ve been playing erepublik for like 6 years. I played mostly at Spain, but I also spent some time at India and Egypt.

How did the first Country President elections go? Stressful?

*Elections were hard. We started losing and even some of my crew gave up. But then, and after doing a hard work reporting multi accounts we just saw how the difference went smaller. At the end we felt very happy, our effort was rewarded.

What is the rundown on eCuba's political landscape?

*We have 5 big political groups here. The biggest one is the Partido del Pueblo Cubano, my party. Almost all Spanish speakers and native Cuban are there, but we also have some British, Italian and Turkish.. Another party is Partido de la Liberacion, ruled by people from Serbia, Cuban Social Party ruled by Croatian and Partido de Cuba ruled by Greeks-Albanian. Those 3 parties form a coalition known as United for Cuba (UFC) that is the main (and only) opposition group. There is also the Partido Comunista de Cuba, that is our ally and is ruled by English speakers (Americans and East Europe)

What are your short term goals? What are your long term goals for Cuba. How do you view eCuba's geographical position and its affect on its potential allies?

*Well, considering I'm nearly at the end of my term, almost all my short term goals were accomplished. We managed to start good relations with several Latin American countries and we made contact with a lot of other nations. I think we still need to work a bit more in the organization of Cuban army and developing Cuban civil society.
My long term goals go beyond my term. I believe we need to unite all Cubans, its something that seems to be impossible right now, but must be done in the future. We also have to strengthen relationships with our neighbours.

Considering your country's infancy, what are your plans with the resources? We have already seen Bulgaria, Greece and South Africa near-wipe Georgia and Nigeria. On the Cuban forums some players have already 'prepared their butts' (of course I watered this version down a bit for Plato's fragile ears) knowing impending doom is upon them. Are you optimistic we'll see differently?

*We know we have to negotiate with our neighbours, not only because of resources, but also because of our geographical position. We were place just in the middle of South America, North America and Europe, so when some of our neighbours want to attack a country in different continent they will probably need to cross Cuba. I also know that USA will be interested in our Iron region, so it would another key point for future discussions. I just hope we can keep good relations with USA, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Spain. It’s impossible to by ally of all of them (they belong to different alliances) but we don’t have to be enemies.

There also some issues related to rl Cuba-USA relations. Many of the players that came to Cuba have as e-life main objective fighting USA imperialism, even when here USA isn't such an Empire. We need to take that into consideration when negotiating with USA.

What do you want to let eUSA citizens know? Is eCuba against opening their doors for fear of another invasion?

*eAmerican citizens will have in eCuba people a good neighbour and even good friends, as long as we manage to develope a good relationship based on mutual respect. I think we need to forget rl issues in order to be able to work together and get results here.
Cuba is opened to everybody who want to work with us. It doesn't matter where you come from or what is your mother tongue. If you can speak some English and have good ideas you will be welcomed in Cuba. We dont fear of any invasion, we have a lot of Balkan people here, and I think that they have good intentions. If we haven’t been able to cooperate is because of misunderstanding.

Any other last thoughts?

I hope that Cuba serve as a link between North America and South America people. We are made of people from everywhere so our multicultural society will enrich foreign affairs of our countries.

Thank you very much.
