Welcome to the newly rechristened Because eRep, home to bad jokes and commentary on this strange little game we play. Let's get started.

Why would anyone want to go there?

I write this today because I'd like to be in Congress for the upcoming term. Gone are the days of voting for individual candidates, but thanks to WTP's Congressional primary, you can still have a say in who represents you...and I'd like it to be me.

The World We Make

Erepublik has been a great home to me over the years. I first logged in back in the summer of 2009 and have been an off and on player ever since. The game has certainly changed, the faces and names are often different now, but the core remains. The appeal for me has always been that we have a dedicated community committed to this strange little world we have built. Those who play eRep aren't hooked by the great graphics or well crafted narrative, they are truly reeled in by the connections made with other players.

Those in the eUS who enjoy eRep benefit from these ties. Whether we are logging in to avoid school work, to relieve the tedium of work, or because we have nothing better to do, we all find something positive to keep us around, even the most cynical and jaded among us.

My goal for my time in this game is to help build and maintain this world in some small way. Working in Congress, I may not be able to radically change things, but I can do my part towards making a game and community that some young player may find and be hooked by, just as I was.

We get the world we make for ourselves, this is true IRL and in eRep. We know that the admin likely aren't going to come and save the day, so it is up to those who are here to take the reins and find avenues to generate fun, to encourage engagement, and to compel players new and old to log in and get involved.
