Shirobu :
Hello everyone, good to see you again! It will be a pleasure working with the Ministry again; and now for my ice breaker: I have held various jobs throughout the government--all of them in eJapan, and I won’t lie I wasn’t great at what I did and could have used some critques, but I’m confident that with Nicolas’ guidance the MoE will make a strong comeback. What else…..? I was born in Taiwan(Real life) but raised in America, can speak Mandarin pretty well, and I am a university student. That’s it for now, as always I’ll try to make myself available to the public as much as possible, or contact Nicolas Bonaparte if you have questions. Remember the MoE is working for you, not the crazy Squibeel monkey that put us here 😉, so until next time see ya~

Nicolas Bonaparte :
Last month, I was the History Director of eJapan, which is an appointee in the MoCH, and simultaneously the vCP of eFrance. This month, I'm the new MoE and am working with Shirobu. In the past, I have been an MoE 9 times; 8 times in eFrance and once in eAustralia. In total, I have served in the governments of 6 different countries in my eLife.
I enjoy working as MoE because I enjoy assisting new citizens and players. My job allows me to become acquainted with many new people on a regular basis.

The Guide Book

This goal is a priority for the month. New players will certainly find it extremely helpful to have access to several up-to-date tutorials tailored to eJapan to explain the game and what they can do here.

What is the Guidebook?
The Guide Book is a tool for the entire community, geared in particular towards new players. This guide will include tutorials on how to use the various modules of the game and elaborate on their purpose(s).

What's in the Guidebook?
The Guidebook will contain tutorials on all aspects of the game including the economic, political and war modules. The Guidebook will also describe the roles of various government officials and will try to open the eyes of readers to the potential of various aspects of the game. Concrete examples of diplomacy, journalism, economics, military action, etc will be used to stimulate the reader's interest. We will also of course use well thought-out formatting, images, and diagrams to complete the Guidebook.

Why write a Guidebook?
We wish to provide a thorough and didactic guide for young players to read so that they can assimilate into the game and thus our community more easily. Given we have a small number of new players in this country, it would be rather worthwhile to help them learn the game so they don't get discouraged and quit, thus allowing our community to continue to grow. Furthermore, a well-written guidebook may even be useful as a reference for more experienced players.

Community Tournaments

For the sole purpose of having fun and helping new players break into the community, we will organize tournaments in games outside eRepublik. Older and newer players will be pitched against each other cooperatively and opposition to one another in an attempt to draw us all closer together.

Some potential games include:
Haxball
Swedish Army Training
Chess
Scrabble
Trackmania
Dota 2
Free-to-play FPSes

Of course, we could share in other experiences as well, we are not limited to what is listed here. If you have any suggestions for a game or wish to hold your own tournament, please let the MoE know (send a PM to Shirobu or Nicolas Bonaparte or comment below)! Planned tournaments will be announced in a future article.

The Sempai & Kohai Program

This program has been in disrepair since about a year ago. I wish to initiate a rehash of this program and integrate usage of the guidebook along with it to further bolster its effectiveness.

Guiding new players on their journey through eRepublik in eJapan is the primary mission of the Ministry of Education. This program represents a full embodiment of that ideal, with older and more experienced players guiding newer ones through their first steps in the game to provide for tailored instruction.

Senpais can furthermore be specialized to assist Kouhais in particular areas of knowledge such as Economics, Defense, Journalism, Politics or Foreign Affairs. With such a model, the program would be ever-more-so effective, as the newest players could learn from those who are already the best in their field.
