[GoldFish] Thar be Gold in them there Gills...

There's easier money for newbs to make then voting crappy articles for a measly 4cc... let me explain how.

Everyone loves fishing, right? Chilling by the riverbank, drinking a few beers, smoking a couple of naughty cigarettes on a Sunday morning... Personally I can't stand it. I can think of much better 'hobbies'...

I am a fan of one type of fishing though. eRepublik GoldFishing. No trudging kit across a farmers field to sit out in the rain, freezing and wishing you could escape the kids and missus somehow differently, required for this. Instead, you can sit in the comfort of your favourite easy chair, with a can of 'Super' in one hand, joint in the other. Best of all, no slimy bastard fish to unhook, only sweet, sweet gold.

So how do i get in on this action then? I hear you say...

Well first off you need to know how to fish and what fishing is. Goldfishing is basically the art of selling GBP cash (bait) for Gold. That's it. A simple game mechanic. At the current market rates it costs you over 220GBP to purchase 1 Gold. Yet for someone to buy your GBP in return for their Gold the current market rate is 0.005Gold for 1GBP. On a full catch a Goldfish could be worth up to 220GBP of pure profit, all with a few simple clicks and having a quick glance to make sure sea level hasn't risen.

It really is one of the simplest ways to reinforce your income. Your MU's and the MoF use the exact same technique as this. The only difference being that the Orgs they use to trade with do not suffer the 10 Gold per day limit that our private citizen accounts are limited to. Which can mean huge profits for them. We on the other hand have to make do with smaller gains. You could buy yourself 1100 Q5 every 10 days if you were lucky enough to catch a full load every time. But that nowadays, is sadly a thing of the past. But any profit is good profit. For those with a few quid saved up I would strongly suggest in investing cash into all 3 types of GoldFishing investment available to us. The MU's, MoF and your own private fishing. 3 worms are better than 1.

the Dental Corps fishing trips are always a rip-roaring success.

I got my bait, now what?
To cast your bait into the Monetary Pond you need to follow these very simple steps.

1, Click the Monetary Market
2, Click Add Offer

3, Amount GBP: Type 2000 (you can only take 10g per day so anything over 2000gbp will be unsold)
4, Exchange rate: 1GBP= 0.005GOLD (exchange as of print, but for future readers, have a quick check first.)
5, Click Save
6, Wait. Just like real fishing, sometimes you catch, sometimes you don't.

It normally takes up to 10 days for you to either have a bite or your bait returned. If your bait is returned to you just cast out again. Some believe there is a system, a magic formula to make the fish bite. Just like real life fishing, this is nonsense. The bot may be triggered to buy at certain thresholds, but your account won't be the one benefiting from it. So just stick the max cash out you can on (10Gold payout).

Explanation of the mechanics

A)These are the goldfish
Notice there are lots of them, and they vary in size.
Goldfish eat cash, but like deep water, they will stay as far from the surface as they can while continuing to feed.

😎This is my Bait
I've only just cast, so my bait is at the surface (nowhere near the Goldfish)
All casts ofc start at the surface.

C)This is the surface of the water
Sea level is at 0.005. Perhaps someday sea level will change, but for now it is at a constant level.

D)This is a failed cast
This fella has cast his bait at 0.006 and since sea level is 0.005 his bait hasn't reached the water. Don't expect to catch fish above the water level!

E)These are other fishermen
My diagram only has a few, in reality there are thousands of them...
And they all got here before me

F)The Bait of other fishermen
Is deeper in the water than mine because it's had more time to sink.
Since goldfish stay as deep in the water as they can, they won't approach my bait while this bait is available to them.

G)GoldFish only eat 'live' Bait
Bait can only survive so long underwater. If it 'drowns' it will float back to the surface (don't worry, you get your money back). Also, if a goldfish 'nibbles' your bait (takes a small amount of cash like 100), it won't survive for much longer and again the rest of it's body will float to the surface.

Since there is more bait available than there is Goldfish to eat it all, alot of bait drowns and floats back to the surface. To increase the odds of your bait making it to the Goldfish it's best to time your cast when as much of the erep population is asleep for awhile. This allows some of the previous fishermen's bait to drown, forcing the Goldfish to come alil closer to the surface, and toward your bait!

H)This fella has made a mistake
His bait is smaller than mine because he hasn't put a full 2000GBP onto his hook. Though we cannot control how big a Goldfish will actually strike our bait, we DO know that you can't catch a Goldfish that is larger than your bait. You can't reel-in a Goldfish larger than 10gold, so it is pointless to put more than 2000GBP on your hook. Don't fail like that guy by putting less than 2000GBP on your hook

That's it, that's how you GoldFish. So while the weathers nice, grab ya rod and dangle it in the nearest wet patch, who know's, you could get a nibble...

Until next time eUK...

GoldFishing is OK.
You should do it.
