[DoC] Poll and lottery results!
Damhnaic
Dear citizens of eIreland!
Yet another article from your beloved Minister of Community
❤
1. LOTTERY
2. POLL
1. LOTTERY
I am happy to tell we had a total of 404 tickets bought! Which mean the winner won 2020iep and the rest (2020 too) went into the community fund for future events (community awards, giveaways, etc)
Each ticket was given a number from 1 to 404, then, using the random number generator Random.org, I picked the number 185.
But who is number 185?!?!
*drum roll*
Marinko Margarin!
The 2020iep will soon make their way into your wallet Marinko!.
Thank you to everyone who participated, hoping to have more participants next time to ensure bigger rewards! (ALWAYS BIGGER!)
2. ALLIANCES POLL
This poll was yet again a success. Within the 31 participants, I was happy to see numerous names of young eIrish citizens willing to get involved.
Before the results, here is the division of the political parties within the voters:
We can see that a smaller party, Independent Voices (IV), has more then double the entries from the biggest party, the Independent Labour Party (ILP). This might be an indication of either:
1. Party activity
2. Intern publicity
3. Waffles
4. Other things
Consequence: it might gives a bigger importance to Independent Voices views on alliances in the final results, making them less accurate. (since they are over represented and bigger parties are under represented.) This is a thing to keep in mind while analyzing the results.
This second graph is about the answers to the first question: "What is your general appreciation of the following alliances?"
We can see that Asgard is the most appreciated, but is also more unappreciated than CoT. Here, I must say that CoT was seen as neither favorable nor unfavorable by more then the double of similar views for Asgard.
The last graph is the answers to the question: "Would you appreciate for eIreland to join one of the following alliance?"
Here again, CoT had twice more neutral views than Asgard. And, well, EDEN is just sinking down since last survey.
Speaking of the last survey, if you want to see the evolution of the eIrish citizens views on alliances, I would redirect you to this previous survey conducted by myself where you can compare the graphs to see the evolution of mentalities: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/survey-results-1-2187757/1/20
Finally, as always, here are the comments expressed on the Alliance choice eIreland is currently facing:
1.
"I believe 2 referendums have been previously held and we made it clear we want to join CoT."
2.
"stay neutral for the moment"
3.
"Wait neutral in the UK war and then join COT"
4.
"Asgard is too small for us to join, if it wasn't for Russia and Canada...Norway would be wiped by UK by now."
5.
"As of right now, Ireland has an important decision to make:
Join CoT or TWO, destroying bonds that we have shared for so long with some of our current friends, or remain loyal and choose Asgard, Neutrality, or try to form another alliance with other neutral nations. (I support either of the last three)
Be wary when you see some of the older players who are bored with the game suggest CoT. It's a change-up that may keep them more interested in playing, but is it worth sacrificing our loyalty to those who have helped us through the years?"
6.
"If Asgard doesn't want us for some reason, then our situation just sucks."
7.
"Ireland is at the moment I guess neutral country with still EDEN bonds, which is bad. Why left EDEN then?
Why didn't eIreland stay in EDEN if they want to keep their bonds to EDEN still?
But, we didn't. WE LEFT EDEN! And now it is a start for new ways, new possibilities, new opportunities, NEW FRIENDS!
I believe Ireland should choose the alliances I have stated before as most favorable to join. At the moment, Ireland is absolutely nowhere. No wars, almost no allies( several MPP's left), no alliance..."
8.
"Ireland, being a small nation, best fits a small alliance. One of the issues with EDEN was that Ireland was relatively insignificant compared to the larger countries, and as such, they weren't given much priority. CoT will be no different. Asgard would be the most ideal, but neutrality in the short term, is also a better option than joining yet another large alliance of large nations that take priority over the smaller ones."
9.
"Considering the reasons why we left EDEN Asgard might be a quick solution for the pro-EDEN camp in Ireland (myself a former member of this group).
However that alliance is in a worse state than EDEN. Sweden's population shrank by 50% last year, the worst percentage in Europe, while Finland lost 16%. There is no superpower in that fold, the reason the alliance exists is because of common boarders.
Canada getting involved into that mix doesn't bring any signs of encouragement, it too shrank by 11% and it's Government is really unstable right now.
I think the best move for Ireland is to move away from the axis we have dispute with and toward the other. Ofcourse with our financial situation I think our foreign policy should be sought for over the next 3 to 4 months. "
10.
"We should keep good relations with our friend no matter witch alliance they belong to."
11.
"Our biggest problem is funding any choice we make."
12.
"it's simple if we join Cot all our friend from past is not any more friend except of Bulgaria, is not question does we want to JOIN cOT question is does we can afford to loose friends from Croatia, BIH and other close eden country"
13.
"Neither of the obvious choices - CoT, Asgard, - seem like good enough fits for eIreland if we want to be truly committed to a new alliance for ~1 year +
Committing to an alliance for any shorter time than that would make us seem fickle. Staying neutral so far has caused some trouble for us, but nothing too serious (I believe because of the universal respect we've earned in the past). Committing to a near fit now could put us in an unhappy position in the near future.
Right now my feeling is that we should continue to lie low and consider our options. The pending collapse of EDEN could provide us with a better choice in the future."
14.
"We have allies that have always helped us and we need to ensure whatever alliance we join does not put us on opposite ends with them"
15.
"Asgard is my preferred choice but the Swedes don't want us!"
16.
"Joining CoT would waste years of hard won goodwill."
Waffles to conclude my articles since I was told my survey lacked waffles. WAFFFFLLLEEEESSSSSS

Too many waffles and where is my erudite and well thought out comment?
I like the graphics showing the results. Good work conducting this survey!
Nice article as always : D
Votado !

Being in a large alliance is not a problem for Ireland. With highly active leaders, we held disproportionate amount of influence inside of EDEN for a long time, we basically made shit happen when we wanted it. It was only when certain HQ members wanted to force Turkey's entrance to EDEN, breaking all of their own rules in doing so that Ireland's relationship with EDEN turned sour. Think small and you'll be treated like it.
Neither do I agree that we need to put at the top of our list the feelings of long time allies. We left EDEN, the deed is done for better or worse. Ireland needs to choose whichever alliance gives them most. Every country in this game acts in it's own interests.
If CoT gives us war, respect and an equal status to every other member, then we should join it as all of those things are in the interest of our own country. Ireland stayed loyal to EDEN while we were wiped for months on end, through good times and bad. We stayed and fought for it even when we were having problems with HQ. Ireland can walk into any alliance with our heads held high. Certainly a lot higher than many of those that we had problems with in EDEN. We should not be putting other countries before our own.
Asgard don't want us, probably the Swedes are still butthurt about our invasions of them. So join CoT and go invade them again lol
Only other choice is to stay aligned, unofficially, with EDEN. An alliance we have just left.
Doesn't matter which alliance(big or small) we join so long as it's good for the country.
Also, as Asgard seems to be off the table then I think it should not even be included as an option here. I think it goes without saying that If they don't want us then we can't join it.
What IB said
Another survey voicing the majority wants Asgard. They haven't made a decision about our membership so it is not ruled out and should remain on the table given that is what the majority of eirish citizens want us to be in. If we don't listen tO the majority what is the point of these surveys and referendums when the same few still decide whatever they want
asecondchance, my poll was answered by less than 8% of the eIrish active population, it can't be considered as the "voice of the majority". Yes Asgard is the most appreciated, but it is not the less despised. Asgard is seen as unfavorable by more people then CoT. (Just to put things in balance 😉 )
But this is the second or third poll in a row with same results. My point then if these don't represent the population what is the point of them?
"Think small and you'll be treated like it"
Moment of Zen for me xD
@asecondchance This is the second one, and you should know the results are not the same. http://i.imgur.com/WrdvP.png
As you can see, the Asgard and EDEN support greatly diminished while CoT's augmented. These polls are in no way the "voice of the majority" but they are an indication of the general tendencies of the national views on these alliances. Furthermore, an indication of a general tendency is all but absolute and scientific.
Only in Ireland can people's favourite alliance be the only one that doesn't want us lol
I would have been(and was) supportive of Ireland joining Asgard. But then I found out they are not very receptive to Ireland joining. So why the hell should Ireland bother with them when there are alliances that DO actually want us?
Also, people say Asgard, but how many of the people who filled in this poll are actually aware that we probably CANNOT join Asgard even if we wanted to as they don't really want us in their alliance? If this info was included beside the Asgard option on the poll, do you think so many people would have still picked Asgard as the alliance they wanted to join?
Good stuff Ireland-
- Leave an alliance that wants us to stay
- Ignore an alliance that wants us to join
- Try to join the only alliance that we can't actually join
Round of applause there retards.
I thought that in the beginning Sweden and Finland wanted us in Asgard... did they change their minds?
IBhoy i am sure you can sell Ireland to Asgard like you sold Dublin to Brits....
And ain't you dead?
random org...easy way for minister of community to frame results...
Why don't you use rl irish lottery like they did before?
Donated to Boot Camp as always after I win something \o
^Just confirming that he has donated it.
Interesting how Death and Taxes gets told to go back to the beaches of eIndia and mind his own business but IB gets parroted.

@Kurgan, I went with the fastest way to publish results. This way , I could publish both the poll and the lottery results without having to wait on RL lottery. Furthermore, there is no lottery having a random number between 1 and 404 ;P Using Random.org I can make sure everyone has the exact same chances to win a and ensuring there is a winner. Do you doubt my integrity Kurgan?
Because James there is a huge gulf between them of what they have ever done here and IB is right.
We know CoT want us and Asgard don't speak its idiotic for people to continue saying we should join them.
D&T and IB are two e😜ats, but only the one you disagree with gets told to shag off home? That's hypocrisy. Anyway, you don't get to decide who the stakeholders are in this community.
Some people in this enation are so stubborn. Finland and Canada want us, and Canada is trying hard to convince the largest party in Sweden to accept us. (the rest of sweden doesn't mind) It's ONE party that's slowing our progress in Asgard. All because they are mad that an idiotic administration invaded them for lolz. They have a reason to be mad, and some of you are so stubborn you'll do everything to try and keep that option from the people.
Hum. Thanks for the survey. I do wish people would make the effort to contribute to surveys even if they come from people/parties that are outside their comfort zone. It was the same with Stilpo. I don't think there is any right decision other than staying out of EDEN. iBhoy is mostly right apart from the rose-tinged glasses of yore, times have changed. We may be on the cusp of something we never had before, three balanced alliances. Who is to say when TWO and CoT have a falling out? In the meantime, if you're happy fighting against NL, BiH, Albania, Italy, Norway and Portugal, well, be my guest. As for Asgard, well, if the old guard got back in and went cold turkey on us, that's their loss.
IVhoy, come vack.
-CoT want us
-The Libertad branch of Ireland have strong ties to Latin American members of CoT
-The ICA have strong ties to Bulgaria & a pleasant history with South Korea
-Much of Ireland was sympathetic to Bulgaria void membership in EDEN
-The alliance has more smaller countries than EDEN & has handled them well with Chile & Mexico both experiencing baby booms
Not to mention that the alliance wants us.
My worry is financing!
Brian has already said it to CoT about our finance issue, we can slowly build up the key MPP's. Once they understand that and we don't rush this we should be fine.
