[PotUS] Foreign Policy

Day 1,697, 00:47 Published in USA USA by Evry

Hello America,

First off, I would like to apologize about keeping the public in the dark in regards to our alliance situation the last few days. I’ve been spending nearly all my time the past few days either sorting out a few kinks in the Department of Defense or meeting with various foreign dignitaries discussing plans and negotiating foreign policy goals. I truly regret not being able to keep America fully updated with up-to-the-minute information. However, that’s simply the way it had to work and I do apologize.

Now to summarize what has happened the last few days, and then to reveal my future plans for Foreign Affairs.

Last week America heard that the eUS was forming an alliance to include Brazil, Spain, and Poland. The goal was to then branch out to other nations once those 4 were on board and signed up and everything. Soon after the first (albeit vague) announcements went out, things began to go downhill. Articles began appearing containing faked logs, and people began passing around rumors based on third or fourth hand knowledge that was never based on anything remotely resembling fact. To add onto all of this, other countries who felt threatened by this new alliance began to attempt to undermine it. They requested formal meetings with various leaders of the core 4 nations, and requested alliance to alliance meetings as well. Eventually, logs were published of secret meetings and trusts were broken. However, the facts and evidence doesn’t support Poland or Spain or Brazil or Us breaking those trusts, but, the evidence points at ONE and EDEN breaking some of those trusts. Meetings that were never supposed to have existed soon had their transcripts spilled on the web for everyone to see.

Spilled logs make such a mess.

The logs that were published were likely also doctored to try to poison the well against this new budding relationship between 4 countries who at one point or another all fought side by side. However, the powers that be decided that wasn’t going to happen. Once those logs and notes came out, and the rumors continued to swirl, the new alliance was aborted prematurely. The 4 core nations have all decided to go our own ways, for now.

I’m sure you’re all still wondering what this means for the future for the country.

When the eUS congress signed the charter for joining the new alliance, they simultaneously left Terra. Therefore, since congress also just repealed the acceptance of the new alliance, we are no longer members to any official alliance. We are not however currently pursuing re-admittance to either Terra or EDEN. We are deciding to change our foreign policy back to the basics. Our foreign policy from this point forward will be simple. It will no longer be based on what alliance you are in, but rather what you have to offer, and more importantly, your actions towards the eUS and its friends. We won’t be MPPing with every nation that asks for an MPP but will instead only accept MPPs from nations that we genuinely want to be friends with and want to support during wartime. The point of signing a MPP is not so the country can brag about how many countries it has signed with but to promise military aid during wartime and to receive during a time of need. From this point forward alliance requests will be judged based upon past actions, the friendliness of the country in question, and what they have to offer. We’re no longer going to be rubber stamping MPPs for nations from any alliance in particular but are instead going to actively pursue MPPs with nations we view as true allies.

Friends?

This policy will provide the eUnited States of America the freedom to do as it wishes. The alliance we attempted to build with those 3 other countries was purposefully undermined by people who viewed it as a threat. They believed that they were at risk and therefore took unilateral action against sovereign nations merely looking to formalize a new relationship. The eUSA will now be able to do as it pleases without having to ask the permission of an alliance it has had no part in for over two years.

This new policy will certainly change a few of the nations we’re allied with as well as potentially change who our enemies are. However, it will not change who we are as a nation. The future holds a great many number of opportunities and I, as well as the rest of my executive staff, believe that this policy is the one that will provide us with the best path for the future.

I would also like to call your attention to a more detailed summary of the last week and a half located in the White House Press Release Article located here.

And with that, America, I wish you good night and good luck.
