Given the new MU supply system currently being used for Shinsengumi and the JSDF, I've been requesting for a while now for someone to write an article/tutorial on how to actually take screenshots on a computer and not just what screenshots to take to get supplies. Anyway, I figured this would be a good idea given that we just can't assume that everyone here in eRepublik knows how to take screenshots. Nobody else has done this yet or seems to be intent on doing this, so I figured I would write the tutorial myself. So, without further ado, here's some quick tutorials on how to do so using Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OSX (I'm skipping GNU/Linux because I think it would be reasonable to assume that people willingly using any flavor of it are technically proficient enough to figure out how to take screenshots).

Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7

1. Navigate to the page you wish to take a screenshot of. Make sure the application window is in focus! (Your web browser in this case)

2. Press alt+print screen (Print screen is a key, usually located by the insert key on the top right of the keyboard).

3. Open Microsoft Paint (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint)
(Yes I realize you can use other applications but EVERY personal windows computer has Paint loaded onto it by default, this is not the case with other applications!)

4. Upon opening the paint application press ctrl+v to do a copy paste, or do so through the file menu.

5. Now in Windows 7, you can additionally crop the photo by doing the following. (Cropping is also possible in XP and Vista but it takes more work as the paint application is an older version without this functionality. I'll skip that tutorial given I don't have access to a computer running either of those OSes, but you can read on how to do so here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOKOm7-IDg0).







6. Save the file by selecting the save as option in the file menu (Which is in the typical place in Windows XP/Vista and as indicated on Windows 7 in the image above). Remember where you saved the file for when you post it on the forums!

Mac OSX

1. Navigate to the page you wish to take a screenshot of, make sure the application window is in focus.

2. Press Command (⌘/ (apple logo))+shift+4

3. Your cursor should have changed to a crosshair. Click and drag to make a box around the area you wish to take a screenshot of.

4. Your screenshot will be saved on the desktop!
