2 years in the Garden of Eden

Day 1,406, 12:39 Published in Romania Romania by Wallachian

On the 27th September 2009 the Treaty of the Brotherhood of EDEN was signed.
Today we celebrate 2 years of EDEN. Through all the turmoil and against all ods we survived. Where all other alliances have failed, we were victorious!
Can anybody say different? Nobody has a history like ours. Nobody can even dare to look us in the eyes and say they come close to our Brotherhood.

So now it is our time to celebrate. It`s been a long long time but we are still here. Our secret is our friendship, our brotherhood. Those who cared only for petty gains are gone. Only the true and the strong have remained. Only those who are worth of having their leaf in the Tree of Eden are still among us.

2 years ago, on the ashes of Atlantis, a new alliance was born. Theoretically the alliance was formed a few months prior to this date but only on the 27th it was made official. EDEN was a continuation of Atlantis and for those who want to read the whole history of our alliance feel free to read theGenesis. The treaty was signed by the presidents of Croatia, Finland, Norway, Romania and 3 other countries, which have left in the meantime, as founding members. Australia, Canada, China and Greece followed. Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, Ukraine and Israel have joined afterwards.

I will pause now and let some of those who represented the backbone of our Brotherhood to say a few words. They managed the alliance and seen it through all the mischief throughout the eRepublik ages and now it`s their time as well. So let`s hear what they have to say about where is EDEN now and where it can be in the future.

Sirbeg (current EDEN Supreme Commander, previous EDEN PR, ISD, Adviser, EO)

I've been in EDEN HQ since February 2010 so I believe almost everything important happened while I was in office. But the event I enjoyed the most was the epic battle of Hello Kitty when we've finally defeated Hungary through great organization and cooperation.

It may sound like a cliche but EDEN truly stands for brotherhood and eternity. If it was merely an alliance it wouldn't have outlasted every other alliance that ever existed and it wouldn't stand for 2 years. Sometimes we used to be stronger, sometimes weaker, but we are still here. You see, all our members are equal and have equal say in every issue. Also every so often we see a big country sacrifice itself for the good of a small one and vice versa.

EDEN can't be greater than it already is, we've stood the test of time. What we can be better at is strength though and we need a bit more activity, a bit more firepower (combined with TERRA we're currently some 200M daily damage behind ONE, but we still manage to win where we want to) and a new common goal. You see, we were the strongest when we had good common goals, i.e. First it was defending USA then freeing Hello Kitty, then Lion King and then wiping Serbia, once we find a new common goal we will achieve glorious days again.

EDEN will surely be there as long as the game runs, how strong will we be in a year and who will the members be is anyone's guess. But I think we will continue to grow from now on as new generations are being prepared to take over and I am pretty sure they will do good.

Just a reminder to everyone, we've killed PEACE, the strongest alliance ever, and we've killed it's successor PHOENIX, we will kill ONE too. I'm just worried they'll run out of names for their "alliances".

Gabriel Lavanche (previous EDEN Supreme Commander x2, ASC, FAO, EO, MO and Adviser)

I have had so many positions in EDEN that it is hard to remember all important events that have happened, but personally I remember of course creating EDEN on the paper which was almost half year before treaty was wrote, then creating first real HQ where shoot took Supreme Commander's place and I was first aSC.

Turning the war in North America where PEACE had took almost every region already by using small country as Norway as a blocker and beating PEACE invasion in Scandinavia after that by purely using tactics against supreme manpower.

Also getting upper-hand about year ago against Phoenix in all fronts which led destruction of Phoenix and I had privilege to serve SC during that time.

In my first term as president EDEN was officially create even thought treaty wasn't signed yet which is probably best memory which I can recall.

For me EDEN is brotherhood. Everyone should act common cause first instead of their own agenda. For this same reason we still stand when other alliances have fallen.

If this game manages to stay alive 1 year more, I see EDEN where it is now. Doing its best no matter how hard it has to struggle. Standing together in victories and losses.

Radens (current EDEN MC, previous EDEN aMC, aSC, and EMC Commander)

WOW, 2 years already 🙂 Ok, where to start?

If I remember correctly soon it will be my 1st year anniversary as HQ member, whoa!! time flies when you're having fun. I've seen EDEN winning and losing, when it was on top of its power and when it was down on its knees.

Before I became EDEN HQ member I was commander of EMC for a while. It was mostly the time of v2 and I had some of the most interesting moments in my e-life then. Chasing enemies on the battlefield, conquering fields, taking capitals and stuff, great time for tactics.

I was aMC for the next couple of months till avec came back as SC and I took position of MC. Back them we had many problems, mostly internal issues (we all remember Poland, Spain, their MPP with Hungary, their meaningless media fight with Romania and talks with leading PHX member behind the close doors) but that internal instability was shown on battlefield too.

That was one of the hardest times for EDEN and HQ. EDEN was falling apart, but with the strength of true brotherhood we survived those difficult times. Brotherhood > greed for bonuses

This summer was again one of the hard times for EDEN, very depressive and frustrating. We were outnumbered and outgunned, ONE was dominant in all MPP battles, so we had to focus on RWs. We started with small actions like liberating countries like Finland and Ireland to boost our people's moral and to regain the winning spirit 🙂

After the successes we had there, we moved on bigger targets till we had the power to stand up to ONE's biggest powers. I guess our strategy worked out great since soon we were able to keep up with ONE in MPP battles. ONE was kicked out of N. America, out of Asia, out of Africa and we were back!

Once more EDEN showed strength of brotherhood, we were down on our knees, but we didn't surrender, we didn't fall apart and together we survived and came back stronger.

Brotherhood was again shown in all of its glory few weeks ago. Even though we were outnumbered, against all odds, with little luck and lots of hard work from all, together we conquered no. 1 power in Erepublik. That was definitely one of the greatest EDEN's victories, I enjoyed it very much and I'm proud that I was there to see it.

Where do you see EDEN in 1 year from now?
Can't tell, since changes are coming too fast in Erepublik, but one thing is for sure, EDEN will be there 😉

Zdlemmy (current EDEN MC, previous EDEN aMC, aSC, Adviser)

The most important thing in all my carrier was deleting Serbia. We had other good actions as well like stopping Serbia in China, kicking Poland out of the US but this was the best action in my Erepublik life and I`m proud to be part of that.
EDEN is not as strong as ONE but we sacrifice more one for another. Resources are not important, people and relation are, and we are connected not just as ally, but also as a friends.
It is hard to predict where will be game in 1 year from now because every month there is some changes but I believe when Albania come on map it should be one strong push for Eden and both alliances will be more balanced.

Petsku a.k.a Baby Finn (previous EDEN MC, Adviser)

I have a lot of good memories from my time being the Military Commander of EDEN. The thing I’m most proud of is probably wiping Russia. The plan was pretty awesome and worked like a charm. Special thanks go to A. Hamilton from eUSA who gave the support.

Currently EDEN stands for me as the “better” alliance out of those that exist. I’m not in favor of the current alliances so I don’t even want to imagine what EDEN would be like in 1 year. Personally I’d want to see UK (and maybe the few other virgins such as Indo) wiped. That’s all I’m asking for! I’ve said it a million times that after UK is wiped, I can finally quit. Until it happens, I think I’ll have to keep “2-clicking”.

Kill the redcoats!

Octavius Julius (current EDEN PR)

From the first day I joined the game I have always been lured by EDEN. Even in a past experience where I played as a eUS Citizen EDEN was always by far my favorite alliance. To me EDEN is an everlasting COMMUNITY of friends, officials, politicians and soldiers who know when to put the greater good in front.

I believe EDEN is already almost functioning to its top production with the available damage count. There is no doubt EDEN holds a very talented Military Command and I am sure they will keep doing excellent. Yet still I'd like to see more cooperation and sacrifice from the super powers of our alliance to the weaker countries, this is what makes us different from the other periodical alliances.

Where do you see EDEN in 1 year from now?
Standing united then it ever was. I anticipate a few other temporary blocks trying to make us sweat but as always they do not last for more then a few months.

And the last but definitely not the least:

Avec (previous SC, aSC, EO, Adviser)

In September 2009 when I was the President of eFinland, we commenced the famous land-swaps with Finland, Norway and Sweden, and blocked Russia from attacking USA, thus giving them the initiative and ending World War 3.

During my SC term in March 2010 USA left EDEN, and in April 2010 EDEN started the next World War with an operation nicknamed Operation World in Flames. We successfully liberated Heilongjiang for China, and China joined EDEN.

In June 2010 EDEN commenced an operation to bring Poland in USA through UK. The operation was a success.

In January 2011, Poland and Spain finally decided to leave EDEN. After this, EDEN was mostly consolidated and made into its current form.

You can read more about these events up till July 2010 from his wiki.

EDEN was formed on the principles of mutual trust, friendship and cooperation. The point was to emphasize EDEN being a Brotherhood of countries, not a formal alliance based on numbers and treaties. How I see it is that EDEN stands for all of its members equally. How it succeeds making that a reality varies, but in principle, all countries have an equal say in EDEN matters no matter the size, population or strength. It's a big factor that's kept EDEN alive for two years now - if EDEN was only an alliance for a select few countries it would have collapsed ages ago. All work, or should work to help each other because common priorities decided by HQ are the ones that benefit the alliance as a whole. Negligence to help or fighting solo are not qualities of an EDEN country - but rather sacrifice, trust, valor, respect and honor are. If you wish, EDEN can be described as a democratically lead alliance under representative leadership of the HQ. It strives to fight for all its member countries and plan campaigns for all its members that are meaningful for the majority. It can survive even under harsh conditions as we've seen - in contrast to alliances that are based on a few countries leading and others following, EDEN is at its best on defensive and multi front warfare where all members can have meaningful battles.

As such though, EDEN is not anymore what it sometimes was. I don't think EDEN ever met the expectations put on it, and the ideal picture of EDEN exists only on people's minds, but it was close to being the perfect alliance in V1. The game has changed too much since EDEN's creation and people leading it have changed, countries ' leaderships have degraded and the new people don't share the mindset of those who were there since the beginning. EDEN isn't the same as it was in the beginning and its structure is changing with game mechanics changing. Because of that, I don't see the meaning in asking where do I see EDEN in the future, or how EDEN is a year from now, since the only thing staying the same is the name. But, hopefully the main aspect of EDEN being an alliance for all its member countries lead by an HQ that seeks the best of all countries, remains.

I left Avec at the end for he had a message to send in regard with what is going on with EDEN nowadays. We have to see both faces of the coin and not just what`s fine and dandy. I myself left the HQ months ago because changes happened in many cases too little and too late.

However tonight we celebrate! We managed something nobody else did. Through bravery, unity and sacrifice we stood on the battlefield and impaled our flag right through our enemies throats. 13 tribes have gathered their warriors and achieved something nobody else ever did in the history of Erepublik.

Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Norway, Romania, and Ukraine, raise the glasses high for tonight we celebrate!

Happy Birthday EDEN, now and forever!
