OD4CP: An Address to the Nation

Day 1,564, 23:28 Published in India USA by Octavius Dryst
Some opening music

Greetings my fellow citizens,

I am writing you at this late hour to announce my candidacy for the position of Country President. I urge all who chose to look at this article to read it in its entirety. For those who chose not to do so a TLDR version will be available at the bottom of the text. I thank each and every one of you for your time as well as your consideration. I strongly recommend that you lend me your vote. We have the potential to do truly amazing things with our nation.

My Background

In case you haven't had the pleasure of one of my late night chats on the IRC channel #India here is a bit of information about me both in game and in real life.
-I am 24 and studying to be a teacher.
-I started this game in eIreland. I played there for over a year and a half. During my time there I was a congressman for over a year, a Party President for roughly 5 months, and I held multiple cabinet posts ranging from New Citizens, to Information, to Foreign Affairs.
-I left eIreland due to controversy over an impeachment I spearheaded, that proved to be successful. (Long story short he appointed a known thief and traitor to the position of MoD and I would not stand for it.)
-From there I traveled with Commius first to New Zealand, then to UAE. At each step attempting to fight Serb colonialism in the "New" new world. Then our travels led me to India.
-My first impressions were tremendous. The country seemed civil and well maintained.
-I began my government service to India as either a congressman or Minister of Foreign Affairs. (At this point I do not remember which came first). I have continued this tradition of service to include multiple cabinet roles, continued representation in the legislature, and the office of party president. To this day I have performed every duty that has been asked of me, with the exception of the month I went without access to a computer.

My Goals

When I look at India I see a nation failing to meet her true potential. We must accept this, take responsibility for it, and change it. We are wealthy for our size, we have a strong ally in China to the North, and we currently sit ontop of a dormant Pakistan. Our international prestige is such that we were able to best a serb colony! These are all things that give us an advantage over many countries in the world. I ask then, why a nation the size of eIreland, was able to cripple their long standing foe the UK by sacking London (a feat whos importance i can not adequately put into words) months before we were able to best a petty serb colony? My tepid answer would be communication, coordination, and community. These are my intended goals.

-Communication

-We need a more active communication stream, especially for government representatives. Status updates are tremendous, but we need coordination between ministries at a level we have yet to see. To remedy this situation I would charge the VP with the sole task of coordinating communication between ministers. A working google document or calander would be an excellent way for ministers to stay on task and up to date.

Coordination

-Our armed forces and supply officers do a terrific job. I have helped coordinate battles and supplies and it can be a hectic and stressful thing. I have the utmost respect for anyone who undertakes that terrific burden. But the system could be better. I do not fault the individuals, but rather the tools and method. There must be a better way. I have seen several systems that work very well in the past, but they involved technology I am ignorant of. One of my first acts as CP, if elected, would be to form a council on ways to improve the efficiency of supply and military management.

-repetition builds habbit. If we can effectively ingrain in our noobs the mentality of work train fight every day then we can build a unique nation. The best way to establish this is through regimentation. Consistency. In coordination with new citizens the military will have the opportunity to express their interests and information to all new citizens. Get them young and they are yours forever 😃

Community

-This is a game. Games are meant to be fun. Some games are fun because they are challenging, some are fun because they are silly, some are fun because they are social, and some are fun because they are unique and novel. This game can be fun for all of those reasons. In eIndia we seem to focus so much on the orderly that the best community idea I have seen so far was a series of competitions for posting silly articles about a rat and cheese ha. To remedy this situation I would create two new ministries. Community and New Citizens. Community would begin a series of awards for citizens, and encourage contests and new engaging ideas amongst the people. New Citizens would be in charge of reaching out to new players and helping them along through the boring first stages of the game.

Foreign Affairs

-This recent war has sparked the most life out of this country I have seen since we got wiped. I intend to maintain an aggressive foreign policy. In an ideal situation Thailand will be held as a protectorate of the mighty nation of eIndia, while at the same time an invasion will take place against Indonesia. This is a bold goal, and one I intend to pursue vigilantly. Together with our allies we can achieve great things, but it lies on us to stir the pot and initiate progress.

Fiscal Policy

-I intend to take a hard look at taxation to see if we are indeed operating at the ideal rate.

-Government is not a business. It exists to serve the people whom it represents. To that extent I would end interest rates on government loans. We want to encourage growth. Increase sales=increased tax revenue and military supply. Increase tax revenue+principle repayment=more loans. The cycle doesnt break unless there are mass defaults. Let us invest in our future more than our wallets.

Political Rhetoric

-I am representing the IWP. That is the Indian Workers Party. It is my political goal to represent the populace. To end pointless party bickering. To unify our nation in the interest of the worker. We are socialist, I am socialist. I will not steal your money, or take food from your table. I will however provide the best opportunity for every new player joining our fine country. We always ask for a baby boom, but if it happened we wouldn't be prepared to make those new players valuable players. We have to start from the bottom up and lend a helping hand where it is needed most.

Cabinet
-I have individuals in mind. However in keeping with my political rhetoric I would like to ask the Party Presidents of every other party to submit to me a full list of potential cabinet members. I will implement power sharing, and I would hope that it would become consistent. Every party has active and valuable people. Their service should not hinge on who wins the CP race. One particular point I wish to make stick would be that New Citizens ALWAYS go to the minority party. Just to keep the game interesting, and provide and opportunity for new voices to be heard.

Conclusion
That was my "speech". Kudos to you if you read it all. Brass tax is I want what is best for our country, for each and every one of you. I do not always have the best ideas, but I am open to any and all suggestions and advice. I will work hard to protect our country and make it as great as it can be. I ask you to work with me to make this possible. We will revamp out communication, coordination, and community. But we have to do it together.

TLDR version
-Public service- I have done a lot of things in a couple countries.
-goals- communication, community, coordination
-FA- War
-Fiscal Policies- Benefit the worker, benefit the country. No interest loans
-Politics- "Why can't we be friends?"
-Cabinet- Power sharing, only the best representing the best
-Conclusion- Please vote for me

Thanks for your time eIndia,
