Upcoming Constitution vote
Fhaemita The Apostate
Today our president posted something on the private government forum about the upcoming constitution vote. I know this was posted on the private government forum and this is not suppose to be posted in public, I will get a lot of flack probably for posting this in public but I think it is important for the citizens of eBelgium and congressman who will vote tomorrow how the president is trying to push the constitution true our throat.
The following was posted by NLSP
Dear govmembers,
tomorrow a new constitution will be put into voting.
This was a work of many governments and will be hard to get an majority.
As governmentmember you are expected to
help this constitution to get it's required majority
explain when necessary that this is an improvement to the current constitution
convince voters that voting abstain or no means that they prefer the old and broken constitution
Whoever has any problems to do so, should contact me ASAP, just pm me.
It is not desirable that a governmentmember will publicly ridiculise the work of it's own government. You don't need to be personally in favour of constitutions to see that this is an improvement. Like always any comments/possible improvements to this constitution are welcomed
People in government are told by the president NLSP that they have to try to get a majority for the constitution even if they do not agree with the constitution. Obviously there are a couple of problems with a president trying to get a constitution true this way and forcing government members to also do so.
First off I want to say I think it's disguising that a president abuses his position like this to force his work true. He has been working on the constitution for months and now that he is president he is using his position to get this constitution true.
Second, people are very able to make up their own mind about the constitution. The government members are here to run the country not to campaign for the presidents pet project. If people disagree with the constitution that is their right. They have the right to have their own opinion on the matter. I know I would not want somebody of government bothering me because I have a different opinion and that I dislike the constitution we are voting on.
Third, the constitution is a congress matter and not a government matter. Like in RL there should be a strict like between executive, a legislature, and a judiciary branches. Government should not interfere especially in this way in a congress matters. Congress are the ones who makes laws and votes on them, and the executive branch, the government is there for the day to day running of the country.
And last off all and something that really pisses me off is that government members are suppose to rally support for this constitution and are not allowed to "ridicule" it, basically meaning that we cannot have critic on it. No, I am not going to try to get people to vote yes and after this I will try to get people to vote no. I am against this constitution as I already said multiple times. Government members are still people, and allowed to do as they please and have their own opinion. Yes, we work for the president, but no we do not have to follow everything the president says as mindless drones.
As I said I know what I did was "wrong" and I will get critic for doing so but I made my decision and I thought it to important not to make this public and see what is really going on. This is not the way a government should be run, this kind of backdoor politics and government interfering in congress matters.

I support this message!!
Well, the constitution work has been mainly done by the MoJ which is a member of the gov, not of the congress.
Making a new constitution can never be government policy, so government members shouldn't be forced to support it, let alone campaigning for it. If the president or any other government member has been working on it, it was not in their governmental function. By the way, if you know your constitution will have much difficulty being accepted, perhaps it's worthwile to improve it, so more people can agree with it.
Of course, these are just some observations from across your northern borders. Please don't hurt me.
I don't know which comment to publish...
a) What ? No kidding ? IMPEACH !!
b) You just have been... FIRED !
Maybe better to not publish any of them...
Well, I voted but not supported this article!
It is only because it was Kylero that worked on the constitution that you don't want it to pass!
>It is only because it was Kylero that worked on the constitution that you don't want it to pass!
tbf, for me it's the other way around. It's only because kylero worked so hard on it that I want it to pass. I'm a strong supporter of fully abolishing the constitution, but I think this would be very disrespectful towards kylero who has put so much time in it.
So you'll accept a constitution even though you don't like it. Thats really stupid, yes you can say you liked the work he put into it but you don't have to accept it just because of that.
// Others citizens have also put a lot of times to work on the other Constitution project... It's not a good way to think indeed...
// In eBE it's become typical that when someone raise concerns about something, some people don't pay attention to it and say it's because he don't like this guy, or this guy, and make it personnal... In my opinion, it's 100% non constructive to the debate !
// About the article, i think we can agree the CP made a mistake, but it could have corrected in private, with a good talk... I don't think there was the need to make a drama of it before to have try to solve the problem between responsible government members.
// About the Constitution, our Congress will have an important choice and the debate will be important. I saw lately that some citizens raised the question of the need (or not) of a Constitution for our country...
whats with the //
Maybe he is forcing this because the constitution is in an deadlock since months?
I still don't think this should not be debated or publish in public.
i agree Olv007
"Well, the constitution work has been mainly done by the MoJ which is a member of the gov, not of the congress. "
Might be true but in the end it is congress that votes on the constitution and they are the one who makes the decision
"It is only because it was Kylero that worked on the constitution that you don't want it to pass!"
Don't make it personal, this is not. It is not even about the (content) of the constutution nor who made it, it's about the president and how is is trying to push this true.
"it could have corrected in private, with a good talk... I don't think there was the need to make a drama of it before to have try to solve the problem between responsible government members."
Good point 🙂
"I still don't think this should not be debated or publish in public. "
Yes, let's keep everything behind closes doors good plan. Who ever wants transparency?
You got it 😉
Not everything that is discussed on private forums should be treated as a holy cow. This isn't of any strategical importance nor is it threatening the national security, so I don't blame Fhaemita for playing WikiLeaks here and starting a public debate about our CP overstepping his jurisdictions and trying to use his authority in a non-constitutional way (which is somewhat ironic actually).
I just want to make it clear that not once has Fhaemita proposed a new version of the Constitution. Instead, he continuously slams the current one, slams reformed versions, and never offers new ideas.
Wonder if this disclosure will be determined as an action that goes against the State Secrets Act...
@Kylero
I hardly doubt this is really a something I would be able to get concivted for. As Aldous Zamiatin said the information was not of any strategical importance nor is it threatening the national security.
If the gov of eBe thinks that the will of the few will be accepted by a hostile majority then you have truly lost all understanding of how government works. Its not your weapon that you use to oppress the people it is your obligation to PROTECT the RIGHTS of the PEOPLE stop trying to rule and listen to the will of the majority you fools. For if you don't you shall see that the majority will not be kind to you.
there is a difference between:
- asking congressman to get out of their shell and take a look at the constitution, aka asking them to do their job
and
- forcing them to say yes
I can understand NLSP's action. NLSP has, together with many others, been working on the constitutional reform for months. rlly, months, I think it started somewhere in december. So he rlly wants to get this thing through, and the inactivity of congress makes it indeed hard, because you need a 2/3th majority of the entire congress, not just voting congress. That requires a huge mobilisation, and it can indeed be quite annoying to see congressman X who hasn't helped at all with the constitution during all those months suddenly say on votingday "no, sorry, I don't agree with article 10.c.12 that says that the president can only poop leftwards, it should be rightwards, gonna vote no". Or simple he won't vote, giving it another way that it won't succeed.
You can discuss a lot wether this is the government pushing their will on or wether this is a way to get something finally done. All I can say is that I do hope that our 29 congressmen (one is already banned 😃 ) do what they got to do, on the forum 😉
This guy, Fhaemita Malodorous is one of the most straight shooters I have every come across in game. The people of eBelgium should support him.
What chucker said
while I normally agree with Fhaemta this is an internal problem & should have been handled their.
This is not the way I would have hoped for this to be handled by either side of this argument; however, the constitutional reform work has been going on for a very long time, actually since my presidency, before NLSP got involved in it. It has been a very hard road, made harder by the necessity to have a 2/3 vote of Congress and a general lack of interest. I only hope that bringing it to public attention will make it possible to get some action on it.
I support free speech and Fhaemita as a person, still I voted for the new Constitution because imo it's better than the old one.
I see nothing wrong in the message of your president. I expect the same from my gov- and party members when I want to implement something. I don't see the harm in it as most people don't even know what to choose anyway, and vote along the 'big names', which are the persons in the government.
