Discussion (from Bhane): That axiom of mine is statement directed toward the knowledgeable as well as the naive. It's a statement to remind experienced people not to mock the naive, because they were there once. It's a statement to give confidence to the naive, that wisdom will come with time, even if they feel foolish at the present time. The quote's original intent was to excuse noob behavior. I may be smart, but that doesn't mean I know everything, I have my mistakes corrected all the time. Knowledge never stops growing. I also hope that the quote might get people to think twice before flaming someone just for not knowing something.

We flame ignorance and naivete far too quickly on the internet. We need to take more of these moments and turn them into opportunities for teaching and learning.
