Next up in our inspection Under the Hood of America is parties, the vehicle of both our political system and our domestic security. The U.S. incorporates a 5-party system, using the primary 5 parties to select presidential and congressional candidates. Each party has a rich history and unique playerbase, and off-site forums and IRC channels to interact with each other in realtime.

I could try to describe each party on my own, but no one knows the parties better than their leaders. The DoE asked some brief questions to prominent members of the parties, and we're presenting their answers along with their logos and links below. The USWP



The United States Workers Party (or USWP) is one of the oldest parties in America, with a colorful history of it's own. It has the largest presence in Congress and has had the most members for many months. It's president is Haliman, who we talked to below:

How would you describe your party?
We are truly America's Party. We'll give people a nice, fun home, and give them many pointers as to how they can better themselves, both in-game, and in the metagame.

What do you think differentiates your parties from the others?
Besides the fact that we are number one, we have a history unrivaled by any other active party. We've been around for a very, very long time. We know what makes a party the best party, and we've been using it to keep us number one!

Do you have any programs to keep players visible and excited?
Operation BIG BROTHER is a way for more experienced players to communicate with quieter ones, and give them a friend they can talk to. This is effective, because it gives players a one on one experience with a vet unrivaled anywhere else.

The Federalists



The Federalist Party (or Feds) is another party that's been established for quite some time. They have one of the most active off-site communities in the game, and a popular militia in America. It's president is Melissa Rose. We asked our questions to Vice PP, Heero Blaze:

How would you describe your party?
The Federalist Party is one that puts America first, above all political parties and individuals. We keep America strong by providing citizens with valuable education, respecting fellow pro-American parties, and encouraging debate and discussion to ensure the best possible future for America. We have a variety of members from Congressmen and soldiers serving in the eUS Military to militiamen from EZ Company and a several businessmen.

What do you think differentiates your parties from the others?
The Federalists are incredibly welcoming to all Americans. We seek to help everyone regardless of their stage in their eLife. We have many notable Americans in the Federalist Party both past and present and take pride in knowing that our party has assisted in the success of a variety of politicians, businessmen, and soldiers. When Federalists see individuals working hard to keep America strong, we say they make us Proud/Horny.

Do you have any programs to keep players visible and excited?

The UIP



The United Independents Party (or UIP) is a closely-knit party known for it's laissez-faire view on politics, the UIP is more about personal relationships than any kind of policy stance. It's president is Athanaric, who you may know as the director of the Pony Express:

How would you describe your party?
One of best words I can use to describe UIP is community. Honestly, the amount of connectivity, fun, and friendship you get in UIP is really cool. We have guys all around the world who come back to the eUS still talking about how much fun UIP, and they hop on IRC like not a day passed. We work hard, and we've been key to a lot of great things in this nation, and these next few months are looking to honestly be revolutionary in terms of what we are aiming for. We just kick ass.

What do you think differentiates your parties from the others?
We're independent, meaning that it's not so much about party ideology, but more that we support our members and their individual goals. If a member wants to be in charge of party actions, they can have that. If they need support to get into government, we can provide that. It's not about the party at all with UIP, but the player, and focus remains that way the whole time you're in it. In exchange, we each learn and grow from each others contributions. We're not all of the same ideology, but that acceptance is what makes us strong and powerful.

Do you have any programs to keep players visible and excited?
The UIP is going to blaze a freaking trail these next few months with new programs. We have a huge surprise coming for our members in the form of a present, and we have a Writers Guild being established, as well as a special Education branch we're hosting on our forums exclusively for new players. It's going to honestly be a blast, and with the new players we have joining the party it's getting even better!

The Libertarian Party



The Libertarian Party (or Libs) is a recently revived party with old roots in America, founding new programs after switching from the defunct ADTP. They house fans of tax reform and government transparency, along with several established writers. It's president is Iasov. We talked with his Vice PP, Deleruin, below:

How would you describe your party?
The Libertarians are the funnest group of people in eRepublik, without a doubt, everything is talked about in the open, with only a few very important things talked about in the "back rooms". Every lib is important to the party, and we embrace everyone's ideas for what they are worth, not only that, but our team right now is highly motivated to fix this party up, and we are always looking for new, fresh faces to help out.

As libs, we hate forums, and prefer to do things via IRC and the party paper, it's easier and less boring that way. Finally, we want the new generation to come to life, rather than the old guys continually ruling America although their time has passed.

What do you think differentiates your parties from the others?
Motivation, our team is incredibly motivated to make us eternally sexy, one stunning example is my sexy eWife, Claire Littleton, probably the best elections girl anyone can ask for. We also embrace anyone and everyone who comes into our chat, whether you are SEES, UIP, USWP, Feds, whatever, and finally, we love all our members, and they are all important to us, as it should be.

Do you have any programs to keep players visible and excited?
We do, the Libertarian Writer's Guild is just such a program, we have many good writer such as Claire Littleton, Sam Wystan, Joe DaSmoe, CRoy, and others, overall, about 6000 subs. I suggest you find these fine eRepublikans and subscribe 😉.

S.E.E.S.



The Specialized Elite Execution Squad (better known as S.E.E.S.) is a popular party notoriously known for it's large executive branch and troll population, and it's founder, e😜resident Emerick. It's current party president is Nicholas Ryan. The leader of their S.S. militia and previous PP, Max Wallingbottom III, talked to us about the party:

How would you describe your party?
"Our party is known for turning questionable Emerikans into leaders. Our members do not fit the typical politicafag category. Emerick, for example was thought to be a PTOer when he first entered the Emerikan political arena, but ended up being one of the most beloved former Presidents in the United States. Other times, we served as a conduit for quality ideas and players, attracting members from around the new world.

Those leaders will unwaveringly support Emerikan interests whether or not they are popular. We have always taken a stand when we felt it would benefit the nation. For example, we were the first party to welcome our newest ally, Brazil. We accepted influential Brazilians into our party months before the new MPP was signed because we knew the advantages of becoming quality allies. Essentially, we are willing to think outside of common beliefs if it means a stronger United States.

We attract a lot of older educated players to our party. These are players who tend to make the newer players realize that this whole thing is a game, and everyone is here to have fun. We do not want an exact replica of the United States. We want a powerful nation, and we're willing to have fun whenever the opportunity arises. Most of the party congregates in #SEES and a wide-range of topics are discussed. Our forums aren't used too often."

What do you think differentiates your parties from the others?
"The activity and skill level of our players set us above the others. Despite having small number within the game, we have a fairly high active citizen base. They follow orders, and usually know what they are doing. As stated above, we are always striving to do what we think is best for the nation, even if it means sacrificing personal glory. We also operate with a simple power structure which eliminates a lot of bureaucracy and increases the efficiency of our citizens. We also have a top notch militia who fights daily.

Do you have any programs to keep players visible and excited?
"Our intangibles are our best feature. We teach new players the ropes. A trial by fire, if you will. We teach them to be thick-skinned, ready to back up their points, and antagonize undesirable elements within our nation. We offer players fun, and nothing else, in our quest for world domination. Also, our militia is pretty elite. We have older skilled players who know the game in and out. We also have a base of newer players willing to learn. It creates a great combo, which contributes to the success of our country. If anything, militia members receive about $40 worth of free food to fight each day."
