Education Today Update: Training and Ranks
Department of Citizen Affairs
Consider this a new "series" in the DoE, for issues stuck in an awkward limbo between "quiet article update" and "full-blown guide article". The admin recently made a change (albeit a haphazard one) to training that is worth a short article on the subject.
What's Changed?
1. Unit skills and Training
Unit skills are abolished, unit types are not though. This simply means you train without picking a unit, much like you do with working. Training is constant now, and is not adversely affected by low health. When you go to buy a weapon, you can buy whatever is cheapest. Soon enough, the market's prices should equalize for all 4 unit types.
2. Military ranks
There are a plethora of new military ranks, you've probably already been "demoted" from this change. All the Field Marshals are now Lieutenant Colonels, and all of the ranks now have "stars" on the end like Field Marshals used to have. You can see the full list from the admin here.
3. Super Soldier medals
Super Soldier medals are now being awarded again for every 250 strength you get. If you got the equivalent of 250 strength in v2 when Super Soldier medals were deactivated, you got one or several maps thrown into your box yesterday. Unlike in v1, Super Soldier medals are easy to train up to for the time being. This brings us to the next subject...
OBSOLETE: Training Boosters
This idea is obsolete now that Super Soldier medals have been increased to 250 points per medal instead of 100 points, due to greed and not because of multis. The information is historical and should not be used. Sorry, everyone.
Boot Camp Guy
(Naturally, there is a small risk in that the admin may change it again soon. Man, I sure did call this one, didn't I?)
That's all for today's episode. Super Soldier is always awarded in 250 point increments, and there have been reports (mainly myself) of not getting a map at some increments. Ticket admin if it happens to you and you'll get your map when they see it. Next up: New Player FAQ, look out for it within 2 days.

Woot
The logic behind the training boosters portion of this article is unfortunately flawed. First, you did not consider the +1 daily strength reward for working and training in a day. This has skewed the math. Also, you fail to consider that the booster is still costing you about 1 gold per week. This gold is probably better spent on weapons and food, in my opinion.
The +1 is an oversight and would just mean its more worth it rather than less. The booster costs 2.66g without the daily rewards and without referral bonuses, which leaves 1-3g leftover from your treasure maps every two weeks.
2g can buy 3 or so Q5 weapons and some food, which wouldn't be a tremendous amount of rank gain, it's even less important to take into account considering the space between higher ranks now. The speed in which you gain the treasure maps going 50% faster should ultimately make it worth losing that 2g and change out of the maps you gain.
I'm not so sure about that, 2 gold is roughly 100 USD which is a lot of food. More food = more fights. More fights means more influence and rank points. I think those are more value than the slightly increased rate of strength gain.
Keep in mind that rank point gains are currently at 10% of what they used to be before the change, and according to our formulas on the forums, strength is more effective in high amounts more so than rank in high amounts.

I'm not going to press the issue anymore, but I did the math and this logic is completely faulty. Saving the .19 gold per day and using it to buy food means at least 1 extra fight per day. Despite the fact that you would earn treasure maps at a faster rate, it still costs about 30 gold over the course of the year and the extra fight FAR FAR FAR outweighs in damage/influence any difference caused by the extra strength. There is no question about this and I think that the DOE really needs to rethink the "education" they are providing.
Alrighty, if you say so.
I've been pressing newbies to save any gold they attain for the past month, and I wouldn't go back on that unless I knew the principles were confirmed by sound economic minds. I don't know what math you run, but one extra fight per day would be no more than 20 rank points. You seem to think those rank points are colossal, while the steady +50% gain in strength is miniscule.
I feel informed! Thanks for the information, I v'ed.
Excellent stuff! Makes a lot more sense. ~
Long live BK o/
Perfect as always
Vinny, don't be an idiot.

Great Job, Voted
vote, great article
Editted. Do not use .19g boosters anymore, SS medals have been changed to 1 per 250 STR and are no longer profitable.
