Just discovered why I loved eRepublik

Day 977, 05:05 Published in Romania Romania by Bogdan_L

There are dozens of articles around the New World contesting the actual version. As you could read you didn't see from my part too much criticism. I tried to do my best, to explore the new things, learn and bring to you a little more fun by gathering together, no matter what alliance or country we were cheering for.
I started the new version with big expectations, trying to remain unbiased by the random bugs, wrong developed formulas or just bad concept.

There are so many to say, but I'll tell you only one thing.
That simple concept of the wall was much deeper than I thought. It brought us together, old and new players, powerful or just starting the game, all fighting for the same purpose, feeling that our contribution goes to the right way. You could see it, it was there. It was in the spirit of the community the battle itself and everything behind that. We gathered on chatting channels, made plans, when to distribute the weapons, what hour to move and when to attack the wall. When the moment came, we were watching the military units or random citizens, cheering for the known guys behind the scrolling avatars. Doesn't matter if we scored 50 or 900, we were all part of the same community, seeing the individuals making the group, feeling that our contribution and effort is there for a bigger and better purpose. Just mattered!
Nothing bad could happen with us. The only sad thing was how the community will be affected by the result. But we knew that all the individuals working and having fun are making the community stronger.

It was in the spirit of the community more than in the spirit of one individual. It was maybe what some of us are missing in the real life and we found it here.

Now is a little bit different. You can see same flags and weapons all around. All the same or the other way. You see the so called group. But you don't feel it. Each one has he's own battle, lots of killings and deaths. Some of them don't even have the chance to feel that it mattered. Some others are maybe feeling good killing tons of fighters. Have money, buy a big gun, pay for the boosters and kill everything. Everything until you get killed as well. Lots of personal dramas. After a while you get borred with this killing stuff (believe me, I've killed a lot!!). But do you get the pattern? Everything is centered around killing. Killing or getting killed.

The player vs player concept brings the individual more into the picture. He fights for himself more than for the community. If he's weak, he won't be willing to sacrifice for nothing. If he's strong he will fight just for its own glory as much as the gold is pouring. All what we have is the individual hidden under a generic weapon and a flag. No avatars, just flags all around. It seems to be more united, but is not. Everybody fights for himself, for the most part one isn't even aware of the other guys. If he's a low damage citizen, he has the chance to get killed right away, if he's a tank he has the chance to be on the other side, killing many and eventually getting killed. It's more realistic, closer to the real life, but from my point of view less attractive to be played. Maybe it would worth a try if I wouldn't have seen the other concept.
