What Just Happened?

"Malaysia has conquered Mindanao."
"Malaysia has conquered Visayas."

The stench of "President has retreated from the battlefield." still permeates the air after the late-night server-reset dances between Presidents.

So what really did happen?
Contrary to what the simple display may say on the homepage, the attacks were not done by some evil Malaysian president. I worked out a contact with ww88, the president of Malaysia, to be around at server reset time--a date he missed lunch with his girlfriend to meet--just in case we needed this.

It turned out that we needed it.

Unbeknown to most of our eCitizens, ePh faced a looming threat this month--that of a PTO. We reacted the best way we could--laying low and focusing on the UNITY campaign slogan to make sure votes went to the right people. All the parties worked together, communicated, and shared resources. Unfortunately, with our population, it wasn't quite enough to fend off an organized group with other PTOs under their belt, albeit without much leadership.

In the final hours, as ww88 missed his lunch, Vice-President Keegan monitored the elections all night with me, and we eventually decided that both Mindanao and Visayas were lost causes. We needed to shed them to assure victory. I called up ww88, who was probably pretty hungry by this point, and we set about planning. We calculated up the battle costs, I donated the required gold into their treasury. Then we waited for the right times--I and Nagyzee would yell to start, he'd click, and then the BH-seekers would leap at the opportunity, and once a BH for each side was determined, I retreated the battle. Altogether, it was very efficient. The Bank of Philippines will be receiving donations/payment in thanks for the prestigious medals.

Short Version
Mindanao and Visayas had too many hostile candidates in them, so that if we did not shed them we would not have had a congress that wouldn't ruin our taxes and steal all our money.

We are in talks with Malaysia that will continue into tomorrow for the return of the regions--most likely there will be a RW raffle for one, and the other will be treated as a regular War Game battle.

So, Don't Panic! It was all part of the plan.

I am very happy to report that we have a majority of friendly congressmen going forth, and that we are, for the moment, safe from destructive legislation.
