10 Things Every New Wiki Editor Should Know

Day 762, 09:25 Published in USA USA by Q J Lincoln

The wiki is the official encyclopedia for eRepublik. It’s content is created, in most cases, by eRepublik citizens for eRepublik citizens.

The following is a Top 10 List of things that every new editor needs to know

1. Articles must be written in 3rd person, be neutral, and relevant

2. There is no ownership. All pages (except for a few) can be changed by anyone, of course these changes must follow the behavior policies.

3. The official language of the wiki is English. However, we do have support for pages to be translated into many other languages. We have a guide for translation on http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Translating_Pages

4. A guide to create links and other editing basics can be found here: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Editing

5. Templates are available for most pages that you will want to create. Pages for citizens, organizations, companies, parties, etc. Templates add regularity to the wiki and provide a starting point for articles. http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Common_templates

6. A template does make an article. Articles need a template (in most cases), text, and an image.

7. Use “Show Preview” instead of saving after every change. This makes life better for the admins of the wiki.

8. Don’t “edit and run”. All new pages are reviewed within 1-2 days of creation. Please remember to check back on the pages you have created to see if more work needs to be done. Often there will be a note on your user talk page, the talk page of the article, or a notice on the page providing advice on what needs to be done.

9. Use the guidelines and tutorials before creating a page in the wiki.

10. The Wiki is a community. If you ever need help, there are other editors willing and able to provide assistance. Check out the bar or leave messages for Uber editors.
