Interview | AFP Chief romansoldier On His Past, Running For CP, Nessun Dorma
Swagger McSwag
ROMANSOLDIER'S AVATAR
Reinstated Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) commander and presidential-hopeful romandsoldier -- reputedly, the country's resident tactics and strategy expert -- sits down for an exclusive one-on-one interview with The Outsider to share with us his past, his plans for the the future of our nation, rice seedlings and Nessun Dorma.
Hi! Good afternoon?
More like good morning from me =-p But good afternoon to you
🙂
So, how long have you been playing eRepublik?
I was born on Day 306, about 2 weeks before Operation French Toast, the first time the French got invaded. That was September last year. So its been about one year and two months now.
What is your role in the Philippines right now?
I am currently the Director of National Defense. I'm in charge of running all of the branches of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. And I also serve as a military adviser to the President. I'm also a member of Congress, representing Palawan.

Where did you come from originally?
The eUK, Scotland. It's my home country although the admins have no love for it. They gave it one region and medium Grain. I did complain to them about it but their response was basically, "it's not important enough, go away".
MAP OF SCOTLAND
Can you tell me more about your stay there?
I spent my first 6 months in the eUK Military. I first joined when the War on France was declared. I was then given 12 rookies to take care of and it branched on from there.
I made quite a few good friends in the military such as Trooper C and Slothen. We spent all our time in the same squad of an elite Royal Navy unit called "The SBS". It stands for Special Boat Service although it does sound like some kind of navy pimp house.
A SPECIAL BOAT SERVICE TEAM ON BOARD A... UH... BOAT
What would you say was your best experience in the Royal Navy?
It was quite fun to travel around the world with the same people. Not everyone was constantly in it but mm, Slothen and Trooper were. I spent the 6 months in the Navy fighting in Romania, Spain, France, Hungary, Russia, Argentina, America, India, Mexico, Finland and so on.
So, why did you come here in the first place?
After my 6 months in the Navy and of course being to almost every country and kicking ass, the game felt... done. There was nothing new for me but ranks that I was never going to reach under the situation of the navy supplies at that time.
I got a message from Big Boy Bulley (former Philippine president and the one who put in most of the 800 Gold the FPM donated to Bank of Philippines). He wanted to speak to me in an IRC chat room about some "secret project". At that time, I was already involved in quite a few of those =0
FORMER PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT BIG BOY BULLEY
So I thought, "what the hell". I went into the IRC and he explained how the Philippines got PTOed* by [former Philippine president and public enemy number #1] Bunaly and his Brazilian zombies. Also, how they stole 1000 Gold from the country accounts.
After hearing the story, I knew that if i didn't go no one else would. I also knew if I left, my position back at home would be filled by Trooper C, so i knew that by my absence no problems would come from it.
I left for the Philippines to stay for a month, ended up there for 4 months =-p
How would you describe your first few days in the Philippines, trying to assimilate yourself in Philippine society, and gaining the acceptance of the locals?
Imagine you are sitting on a throne and you have 500 naked beautiful women in the same room. Then, Lord Dio comes in and kisses your feet and says "I am inferior to you, my lord".
That's how =-p
I showed up before the rest of the team to get a look at the place. The people were nice to me until they knew I was part of that "evil team"** =0
So, I spent my time trying to get people to trust me and the rest of the team by making articles and using up all my money to hand out a huge pile of food to new players (I think Topy will remember this =-p). Because of Bunaly's economic sabotage, new players couldn't even afford to buy food at that time.
In your opinion, what are the issues that the nation currently faces?
We definitely need a bigger population. That alone will The economy also needs a jump start. We also need Lord Dio to stay with us. Also, contracts need signed for every single government Organization from now on.
If you become President, how do you plan to assuage these issues?
We will sort our economic problems first by setting up meetings with Sol to set an MPP limit on the Training Wars. and talk to them about the possible increases in Training War fees. These increases will be calculated by our very own awesome economics team, the National Economic and Development Authority.
NATIONAL ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY LOGO
To increase the population, we will piss off every Filipino website we find by constantly making adverts about ePhilippines and how much we need them to join.
To get lord Dio to stay with us, we will lure him in by tying up a eSwedish citizen (worst enemy of the lord) and trap him in one of our awesome houses. =-p
The government org contracts will look something along the lines of this: http://www.erepublik.com/en/forum/topic/141501/euk-navy-org-access/1
What is your stance towards our alliance, Sol and PEACE GC?
I wish to form a closer bond between our country and our brothers in PEACE and Sol. We have always shown that we are ready to come to the swift defense of our allies during their times of trouble. But there are other ways in which we can form closer relationships with our neighbors, such as in increased cooperation between secret agencies.
What do you think is your biggest contribution to the Philippines so far?
Hmmm. Coming here to help build the country from scratch and using up all my money to do that. I spent countless hours answering questions from every person I could, usually new players, and countless hours buying all the food from the market and feeding people =-p
What qualities do you think are most important for a leading government official?
Intelligence. Ability to communicated with people and governments of other countries. Having an understanding of politics and the game mechanics of the eWorld.
What do you think of a Philippine Empire?
All we need is a higher population and the world is mines!! muhahahahha *cough*
A Philippine empire would be possible BUT only at our allies' demise and that we should never do even if we are 10X stronger than them.
Honor > Power
PHILIPPINE IMPERIAL STANDARD?
If I gave you 100 rice seedlings to plant, and you planted them, how many of them would grow?
*stutters* Yes, rice seedlings...*Oh shit* erm er...either 100 or 238912381293812834721309183 GAZILLION
Whose is your favorite Nessun Dorma?
Well it's between you and Pavarotti. I'm not quite sure who to choose =-p
My Nessun Dorma would be the sonic equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard drowned by a chorus of wailing babies. But thanks for playing. And thanks for your time.
It was your time too =-p

Editor's notes:
*PTO stands for "political takeover", a planned and organized act of seizing the majority of a country's Congress and/or its presidency using brute force (overwhelming numbers), usually without the popular consent of the country's indigenous populace, in order to a) steal the country's treasury, b) sabotage its tax systems and therefore its economy, c) forcing it to surrender its territories to another country, and/or d) just make life miserable for other people.
**Here, "evil team" refers to the early Filipino Progressive Movement (FPM). The early FPM was popularly regarded as a PTO group and endured a brief period of persecution before finally being accepted by the public.

🙂
too long
Load of crap
I guess I'm not acculturated enough, but I have no clue what the references to "Lord Dio" implies 😉 Beyond him, you have a strong platform.
Would you require contracts for *every* cabinet member/deputy position? I mean, would you include senior players that have already proven their reliability?
unfortunately yes, due to a previous issue
I was just curious as the "previous issue" involved a player new to the country. I can understand someone like me, who has barely been playing a month, would need a contract - but it seems to me that players like Nikko_33, Negosyo sa tao, and others have already well and fully proven themselves trustworthy.
The case with SoulSalvage was that despite him being new to the ePhilippines, he had been recognized elsewhere in the Sol community. When intelligence showed he had flawless past, the cabinet could think of nothing that could have been enough of reason to neglet his application. In the ePhilippine community people are treated equal, and the common opinion was that everybody except take overs should have equal chance, as a lot of this country's actives had come from elsewhere. SoulSalvage was the first who showed that anybody can go wild regardless of their previous careers. Therefore at least everybody who handle governmental property through their jobs are expected to sign contract.
