HEKTER'S AVATAR

Former Sol Security Council Chairman and current presidential candidate Hekter meets up with The Outsider for a short tete-a-tete and explains to us his origins, his presidential aspirations, rice seedlings, and Nessun Dorma.

Hello. Good day!

It's great to be here with you, Ariel.

So, can you please introduce yourself. Who you are and what you do here in the Philippines?

I am Hekter, current eFilipino Congressman from Palawan and Sol Vizier, formerly Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chairman of Sol. Currently I work in Congress on our various plans for the future, and help represent Sol abroad because of my activity.

For the benefit of our readers, can you explain to us what a "vizier" is?

A Sol Vizier is a great honor bestowed by the founder of Sol, Snayke, and the Security Council, that recognizes the special contributions of a person within Sol, and allows them to continue to participate in alliance discussions, even if they are not a representative from another nation.

Can I be a Vizier, too?

Viziers are nominated by Snayke and affirmed by the Security Council--You'd have to talk to him. Currently there are only two--Nagyzee of Malaysia and myself.

I don't think he'll nominate me. *laughs* Anyway, how long have you been playing eRepublik?

I've been playing eRepublik since the 12th of May, to be exact. I think that puts it at a bit over 6 and a half months!

Where did you come from originally?

I started my life in the rough-and-tumble politics of the eUnited States, eventually departing after realizing that the spirit of the US and my own were completely incompatible--I, wanting peace and stability, while they wanted as much drama as possible.

Since moving here, I have loved the country of ePhilippines more than anything else in eRepublik, and that's a lot of the reason why I stand here before you today as a Presidential Candidate--to continue to be our best.

Why did you choose to move to the Philippines of all countries?

In the Real World, my uncle married a Filipino, and her presence as an Aunt, if fleeting, provided me with a special interest. When I was looking to get out of the US, I first thought of countries I would like to visit, and I immediately thought of the Philippines. I got involved with President HazzN and Ariel David Buena as an ambassador from the US, and that was all it took to convince me.

What are the issues that you think the country is facing at the moment?

The main concern of mine and of the citizen's across the eNation domestically is that of the economic difficulties brought on by a very large number of embargoes incurred by our wargames--one of the last remaining in the world, in fact.

Outside our borders the constant threat to the Sol alliance by Indonesia forms a very concerning situation--one that proves very difficult to resolve. We must stand up for our allies without risking ourselves.

How many war games are there left in the eWorld at the moment?

As far as I am aware, Latvia's are dismantling, leaving the US-Ireland and the Sol games. The new MPP requirements make them much harder to afford and organize.

How do you plan to assuage these issues if you become president?

Congress has been focusing on the economy, and I hope to do what I can to assist them in that endeavor--several ideas have been put forward as to what we should do with the gold we get from the Sol games (Yes, we are compensated for our econonomic losses!).

The main plan, which I have authored, revolves around providing lower-priced PHP in controlled amounts to businesses to reduce operating costs and, and this was proposed by Congressional Speaker Revilo X, help coordinate prices to increase the selling-point of our products.

SPEAKER REVILO X'S FORUM AVATAR

As for Foreign Affairs, I staunchly believe in respecting the ties of the Sol alliance--we have been dedicated, and should continue to be dedicated, to the soverignty of our friends and allies.

Are you talking about price regulation?

Relatively speaking--we cannot force anyone to set prices, but help work with businesses (and help businessed work together) to set prices that are good for everyone. Moreso recommendations 🙂

You seem to be very pro-Sol. What will be your stance towards PEACE GC, another alliance which we are part of?

PEACE has been greatly reduced in members, and because of this I fear it will not continue to last--we have been in talks with France and other remaining members to continue our relationship, but for the most part I see a large amount of difficulty keeping the alliance afloat. We will always have our friends, though, from our experiences in PEACE. Those ties are more important than any name we put on ourselves

What do you think is your biggest contribution to the Philippines so far?

Phew, tough question. So far I'd like to say that my biggest contribution has to deal with the presence I was able to give across Sol and the world--everyone that knew me in the US keeps Philippines on their mind, and our presence on the international field through my work in Sol make us a name to be remembered. Through establishing a reputation and a presence, we can be much more effective in accomplishing our goals from anywhere in the world.

What qualities do you think are important for a leading government official?

The biggest aspects of being successful in eRepublik is time and having an open mind. These two qualities, combined together, allow you to observe developments, think rationally about them, and then re-apply them elsewhere in your eLife.

I give you 100 rice seedlings to plant. You plant them. How many of them will grow?

I cannot say I am familiar with the fertility rates of rice seedlings, unfortunately. Nor am I aware of this parable, if it is one. I guess the best answer I can give is that all those that you nurture will grow?

Whose is your favorite Nessun Dorma?

I cannot say I am familiar with Puccini's work.

Last question, if you were an animal, what animal would you be?

If I was an animal, I'd have to say I'd go with being an otter. They seem to have a lot of fun while being irresistably cute and are able to hang out in the land and on water 🙂

AN OTTER

Yes. Otters look like this: :3
Thank you very much for your time. And good luck!
