News | Spymaster Runs For President

Day 711, 11:10 Published in Philippines Philippines by Swagger McSwag

MANILA - ePhilippines may soon have its own version of Vladimir Putin.

National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Director-General and 5-time Philippine Congress Member Slothen has publicly announced his bid for the Philippine presidency in his personal newspaper, The Nutshell, today.

"To be honest, I didn't plan to run for a while, as I thought ePhilippines would not be ready for my reign, but all the support I have received from various people has convinced me that it is my time to run," he told The Outsider when asked why he decided to run.

"I think Slothen will be competent as [Country President], and he has proven to be loyal to ePhilippines," said acting Philippine President and labor minister Nikko_33. "He was part of the British group that came here sometime in March and April. Though he hasn't been "noisy", he's been quietly working in the background and he's been sensible in a lot of the issues we've encountered, in my opinion."

DIRECTOR-GENERAL SLOTHEN'S AVATAR

Slothen served his first term in Philippine Congress in May of 2009. Shortly afterward, he joined the newly created NICA, the Philippine foreign intelligence service, as deputy director. He was eventually promoted to Director-General by then-President Ariel David Buena in August 2009.

Since then, Slothen has reportedly facilitated the expansion of NICA's spy network to cover 5 continents, and has played an instrumental role in deterring potential political takeovers, recovering stolen state property and other counter-intelligence operations for the past 3 months.

Slothen currently serves as president of the Filipino Progressive Movement.

-Reporting from NICA headquarters, Manila, this is Ariel for The Outsider.
