konnichiwa friends, senpai, kohai.
I find myself in a bit of a bind. I'd like to get back into the politics of this game but I find myself at a striking loss. I have no political affiliation, and as my avatar shows, my party itself has long been dead. This ship has a captain but no compass. This sakura petal falls, but with no wind pushing it.
I was wondering if someone would be willing to give me a brief refresher course on how eJapanese politics have been running this past... 496 days that I was dead prior to zombie-ing my way back into the game like some oni. The last reliable estimate of active day, judging from my newspaper, was 2,167, although I imagine I clung to our wiped existence of the time for a good 30-60 days after. I ran for president after nowe, and I served as an interim president for a short time during his presidency. Ultimately I lost the election and with it, much of my interest for a time. Those are my last memories, aside from trying to jump-start roleplay by calling for a new emperor (which I'll likely do again anyways).
So if one of you more well-aged out there would be willing to help me catch up on our politics and history, I'd be much obliged. The wiki, as per usual, doesn't say much except that we were invaded by portugal in the Mitsunami war or whatever it was called.

SSG, ULJ, TLS, CTG, DNP (and originally ISP but not anymore) agreed in last September to form a government together, and this is the case since then. You can read about the current events in Japan here: erepublik.com/en/article/2494242/1/20

ULJ is probably the most recently refreshed party in terms of new members, with an increase of 10 members the last few weeks or so, while all the other top parties have lost members.
As for politics, it's as HEX described it. We have a joint collaboration-government atm. with people from all the current top 5 parties being present. As for the parties themselves, I would say that SSG and ULJ are the most promising parties in terms of activity and political progress.
A huge difference between SSG and ULJ, however, is that SSG has restrictions in who can participate in the politics, while we aim for a more open approach in ULJ. So in the end it's mostly about preference 🙂
