Editor’s Note: First of all, I want to apologize to the American people for not publishing any WHPR for so long. Christmas is a very busy season for me IRL and I do my best. That, and it hasn’t exactly been a busy news week… but here is the latest information… see you again soon.
One Man Race to January 5

We at the WHPR are always interested in following the unfolding drama of each Presidential election… even if there isn’t much drama to report. So far, it would seem that drama has not visited us for the upcoming election cycle.
For our newer readers, please be informed that on the 5th day of each Real Life month, each eRepublik nation elects a new Country President. The process can be understood fairly easily, but I’ll review the basic details for you here.
Practically anyone can run for CP. And on the 5th day of each Calendar Month, each eNation elects a President. But it isn’t merely as simple as running and collecting votes. A CP must be endorsed.
There are a maximum of 5 endorsements available for CP each month. This does not mean that every election will have 5 candidates (because once endorsements are locked, a CP candidate can still drop out leaving a slot empty). But it does mean that without an endorsement, there’s no real campaign.
What’s an endorsement? Every CP must have an ingame Political Party officially endorse his candidacy on the 3rd of the month. The top 5 parties get dibs to the 5 endorsement spots. If two of the top 5 Parties endorse the same candidate the next largest Party has a chance to fill the empty 5th slot with their endorsement. And so on.
Winning a Party endorsement is either an art form, a business proposition, a political deal, or a social victory. It will not happen without significant effort in one or more of these four arenas.
If you are serious about running for CP, start planning at least a month early (and not until you think you’ve got a legitimate chance of winning). Talk to a lot of people about your ideas. If you keep getting talked out of it… well… probably wait.
The CP has power over many National game controls.
He can propose laws:
As you will see below, the list of proposals available to the CP is different than those available to a Congressman.
A CP can also set the Campaign of the Day.
And a CP can tinker with the Government “Titles”.
Lastly, a CP can vote on law proposals.
So that is what the CP does.
The real story is usually who the CP is going to be!
And so far, with less than a week remaining before the election, and with Party Nomination procedures already well under way, we have one serious candidate.
I will, of course, acknowledge that Tenshibo and Paul Proteus have sort of announced that they are running together, but in reading through their “campaign” media, it does certainly seem to be a lulz campaign, so as of right now this is all the reporting WHPR will do on their efforts.
Unless something changes in the next few days, we will almost certainly be electing our current Secretary of State and former CP WildOwl as our next CP.
dmjohnston named Speaker of the House in Wild Election

In a hotly contested race which featured bitter acrimony, massive mudslinging, and accusations of peadophilia, dmjohnston narrowly won election to serve as Speaker of the House for the 85th Congressional Session.
One of dmj’s opponents accused him of stuffing the ballot box full of used tampons just to frustrate the ballot counters from rendering an accurate result.
Several other contestants were removed from the ballot after it was discovered that they had been touching dicks with members of Fake Fake Kongress, a body that no self-respecting SoH should even acknowledge as existing.
It was later discovered that all of the contestants who were removed from the ballot for touching dicks with members of Fake Fake Kongress did not, in fact, have dicks, and so another of the contestants was removed for falsely accusing those other contestants of touching dicks with members of Fake Fake Kongress.
Meanwhile Fake Fake Kongress had no comment.
In a last-ditched-effort to unseat SoH-elect dmj, mud was slung. It missed.
And so unless the drama manages to rekindle itself, somehow resulting in a vote of no-confidence, dmjohnston will, in fact, be serving as SoH for the 85th session of Congress.
Japan is Next
War Department
With the Spanish conflict in the rear view mirror, and with 100/100/100 bonuses just a few clicks away (the fight for Baha is imminent as I write this), there is little left to do but kick around one of our old favorite stoolies: Japan.
So Japan was declared a “Natural Enemy” by our glorious leader Deepchill earlier today. This means you will enjoy a special 10% bonus as you unload all your Winter Treats and Icy Bazookas before they expire after January 5th.
In reality, the occupation of Japan is part of our long-term strategy to keep our Western front secure. eUSA has been working in close conjunction with RoC for over a year to ensure that Japan does not arise as a threat.
And so as long as the Japan war progresses fruitfully, it would seem that President Deepchill will be able to end his term of office with multiple military successes.
eUSA is currently ranked #3 in the country rankings, the second-highest ranking we’ve ever enjoyed.

Russia has invaded Sweden and is doing just fine. They have won seven battles in this war. But something tells me that it might be a training war or allowing Russia to just rumble around a bit. We'll see where they end up going with this war. Unfortunately, Russia has suffered two defeats at the hands of Italy. Kinda weird isn't it? Italy used to get beat up all over the place, since forever, and they manage to win two battles against Russia. I'd wager that Pacifica will get things in order soon and throw their full weight behind this campaign. If Russia suffered many more loses, it would really upset the World.
And I didn't get the memo. Did you get the memo? Fight club on Russia? Well, apparently Russia pissed off a lot of people when the attacked Italy. Lithuania has opened a war and won the first battle. And Georgia opened a War, and they look like they are going to win the first battle.
Portugal is doing some clean-up work in Spain. They have taken back a couple of regions, which I presume were RW'd back by Spain. As long as we get to keep the resources we need, I'd say we help Portugal keep NE'ing Spain in perpetuity. I don't see Poland coming to their rescue anytime soon.
Latvia conducted a successful Airstrike into Cuba about eight days ago. It's weird because our allies are on both sides of this war. It really feels like a good old training war, but I'm not sure whether it was to get Latvia out of trouble or just for fun. Either case, it looks like they are having fun, so be it.
SERIOUSLY, FINLAND and ESTONIA need to just get a fu**ing room and gut this out. We are now about to be in the 59th battle in this stinking war. I lost track when counting a couple of times, its so fu**ing long (just like my johnson). BEST TRAINING WAR NA.
The US has finally invaded Mexico. Victory shall be ours. But seriously, we are getting some peter for our salt. It will taste so good.
