America’s Military Backbone - USAF and the DoD
Franklin Stone

The Encyclopedia Britannica defines Military Deterrence as the military strategy under which one power uses the threat of reprisal effectively to preclude an attack from an adversary power. Currently the standing army for the 'eUSA Government' is the United States Armed Forces (USAF). America's standing army is under the direct command of the President, thus it provides a National Military Unit that without question follows Presidential Orders and provides the eUSA Government with a Military Deterrent to use as a negotiating tool in Foreign Affairs.

Currently the USAF is supported with a 60,000 Country Currency (CC) per week/ 240,000 CC per month budget line (US Government Budget November 2014), though over recent weeks they have been running on a weekly budget of only 30,000 CC (DoD Budget - 12/1/14); which through the hard work of the Department of Defence (DoD) has been cut from 120,000 per week.

The DoD created back in July of 2014, to help new citizens with Training Center upgrades and Training Contracts, the 'Strength Enhancement Program ' (SEP), this program combined with the USAF supply system are how new soldiers become trained and prepared for battle in eUSA. Beyond that, there is the privately funded Bank Up 2 Strengthen Up (BU2SU) program; which can be used either in combination with private programs offered by non-USAF military units or in conjunction with the above-mentioned DoD-SEP.

One of the departments not associated with the USAF is the Arm America Program to supply American citizens with weapons and has a 50,000 CC weekly budget line This program is opened only when mass attacks or a critical battle is occurring.

The point of all of this is that as a new player, you gotta get INVOLVED! And as an older player you gotta be involved and know where to send new players so that they can receive the best possible training and assistance. It is the job of all of us, every party and every MU, to make America Strong!

Below are the current supply levels for the USAF. Division 1 and 2 soldiers are Trainees who are not obligated to fight every day, depending on their strength-building goals. This leaves Division 3 and 4 soldiers to make up the bulk of the daily fighting force of the USAF.

Division 1 - Normal

40 Q5 Food when Requested
0.5 gold on first request into DoDSEP Account

Division 1 - Strong (>25k Q7 hit)

Admin Announces Upcoming Medal Changes
Gnilraps
get it?

If you have not heard about it yet, Plato announced that the 5 Gold rewards for these three Medals would be replaced by 1K cc (shorthand for “country currency”). What does this mean for you?

If you want to read about some of the economic implications, most of which can only be opinion and conjecture, you might want to chime in on the article I wrote earlier today.

But here in the WHPR, I want to focus strictly on what you must do between now and January 12. Most of it is obvious to older players. But perhaps some newer readers can benefit.

True Patriot Medal
The True Patriot medal rewards each citizen for damage s/he does specifically for his country of citizenship. The Gold is rewarded at a graduating scale of intervals, so you should first check in where you are in your progress.

If you want to make the most of the Gold that is rewarded until January 12, then you should really focus all of your energy on fighting on the eUSA side of whatever battles are being fought.

If you are saving boosters, bombs, rockets, or Energy Bars, you might consider blowing them before the rewards turn to cc. Don’t worry, if I can interpret the winds that are blowing, there will be a plethora of meaningful battles being fought by eUSA in the coming month.

It is likely that True Patriot Gold will be the easiest for you to pick up between now and January 12th.

Freedom Fighter Medal
The FF is the second-easiest of these three medals to earn Gold with under most circumstances.

To review the FF details I will simply quote Plato himself:

The requirements for the medals are following this progression:

- Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each (1st medal)
- Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each (2nd medal)
- Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each (3rd medal)
- Fight in 4 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each (4th medal)
- Fight in 4 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each (5th medal)
- Fight in 4 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each
- Fight in 5 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each
- Fight in 5 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each
- Fight in 5 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each

- Fight in 10 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each
- Fight in 10 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each
- Fight in 10 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each

After this (24th medal), players will start over, and have to..
- Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each (25th medal)
- Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each (26th medal)
- Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each (27th medal)
etc.

Be sure to understand that you must fight FOR the Resistance in a SUCCESSFUL RW.

You should check your progress right away on your FF medal. Do this by hovering over the icon on your profile page.

It is this one.

It is my opinion that if you decide to make the most of this medal before January 12th, you should try to time it so that you’ve completed Fight in 6 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each stage. At this point you might consider leaving the RW Medal. The Gold reward starts becoming less lucrative with 6*75 and the 7*x series.

Mercenary Medal
This is the least lucrative of the three Medals being changed.

The Merc Medal rewards citizens simply for registering 25 Kills with 50 different countries.

But it isn’t because of the number of kills needed that the Merc Medal is less lucrative, it is because of all of the moving around you often must do to chase it.

So once again, check your progress on the Merc medal. You might find out that you are close to having one and you can easily knock it out. I don’t advise most players to focus on starting on a new Merc Medal (If you are trying to maximize the amount of gold you win prior to January 12th). Just finish out what you need.

Here is a list of Allied or Neutral countries that have larger lists of MPP’s (which means that by moving to one of these you stand a better chance of being able to fight for several countries rather than having to move multiple times):
Greece(22), Argentina (22), Croatia(23), Turkey (20), and Chile(25)

If bazookas are not attractive to you as damage-producers (because your strength causes you to hit for more damage than the bazooka produces), the Merc Medal (and the FF medal) are great ways to convert those bazookas into gold. Remember, these two medals are about kills not damage.

Winds of War
Staff

Perhaps by the time you read this (or very soon after you do) eUSA will have completely wiped eFrance from the map. While it is true that eFrance has not put up much of a fight, it is still an accomplishment and WHPR congratulates eUSA on its resolve.

The real question is… Where will Deepchill take us next?

At least one prominent Citizen has already declared his desire. Is this a portent of things to come? In fact, Deepchill has not yet spoken.

And so we at WHPR want to invite the writers of eUSA to begin beating the War Drums.

Send us a link to your War Drums article (declaring someone… anyone a mortal enemy to eUSA and obvious fodder for our tanks) and if the staff writers of WHPR like it we will endorse it.

But most of all, keep your eyes open. In these very pages there will be an announcement of war just as soon as it is declared.

America Weighs In On The Whale
Staff

WHPR collected a total of 30 responses to the poll in which we asked 6 questions pertaining to the Oblige November term of office as President. Here is the data:

All questions invited a ranking of 1 to 10, 1 being worst.

Question #1
Rank Oblige's Performance in Leading eUSA in War
Average score: 3.7

Question #2
Rank Oblige's Performance in Foreign Affairs Achievements
Average Score: 4.6

Question #1
Rank the Oblige Media Accomplishments from November
Average Score: 5

Question #1
Rank Oblige's Performance in Overseeing the USAF
Average Score: 3.9

Question #1
Rank Oblige's Cabinet's Performance in November
Average Score: 6.6

Question #1
Rank Oblige's Performance as Country President in November
Average Score: 3.7

The staff at WHPR is not willing to draw any conclusions about such a silly poll and we look forward to running more similarly meaningless polls in the near future.

Break This Silence
Staff

As part of our ongoing emphasis on encouraging new media in eRepublik (especially in eUSA) the WHPR staff recommends the following topics be explored by aspiring authors. Please keep in mind that if you are an author of an eUSA-based newspaper, and if you take up one of the below-mentioned topics in your newspaper, you will be endorsed by WHPR and likely featured in the Pony Express.

Let us help you get your writing career launched!

Here are today’s Break The Silence article seeds:

1: The Internet has many resources for broadcasting gaming media. How can a Citizen use the Internet to make eRepublik more interesting?

2: Why are wages in eUSA generally higher than in other Nations?

3: What is going on in the top Political Parties? Who might be running for Party Presidencies? (WHPR is specifically looking for non-partisan reporting)

4: Who has been the most interesting President during your eRepublik career?

5: Who is the Speaker of the House in Congress and what has he accomplished so far this term?

Write your article. Send a link to your article to our Inbox. If we like your article, we will Endorse it!

(click the link, do not fill in the "To:" box, just type "Break The Silence" in the Subject header, link your article in the body, and "Send".) It works.
