[ WGC ] In Retrospect: The Hungarian TO Attempt (+Evidence)

My fellow countrymen, in the past few days, as we all know, we witnessed an attack on our beloved country by insurgents. The insurgents attacked us from a completely different front. An attack we were not well prepared to handle, but we withstood nevertheless. I present you a retrospective view of what transpired.

The Roots of Insurgence
It all started when the former party president of the BPQ, Miloslav decided not to contest for his party's presidential election. Why the 5-time congressman from Quebec did not choose to contest those elections is not known. Also, it's not known why the Quebecer chose to run in Manitoba this time. In any way, whether intended or not, his actions (or inactions) allowed the Hungarian rogues to take control of one of Canada's top parties and take the first steps in seeding the takeover attempt.

The Day before the Elections
The day before the elections, the Prime Minister declared a nation-wide emergency. Joey Phillips first noticed the anomaly in the BPQ and tipped off the authorities. Due to the lack of time and the extreme grave nature of this situation, Prime Minister Bruck made a "list" of active Canadian congressmen and advised all Canadians to vote for. The CAF was called home and deployed to vote in regions where there was high risk.

The candidates on this list were from all political backgrounds. The list was hailed by all major political party leaders including the leader of the opposition Zanalan. The essence of the list was to strategically vote for 'real' Canadians into congress rather than getting the votes distributed(or concentrated) among 'real' Canadian candidates.

Naysayers of "The List"
Even though the list prepared by the government was very effective and the only viable option left, it was in no way inclusive of all the Canadian candidates. The candidates who were left out from the list were very disappointed. They likened the list to dictatorship and oligarchy. Some of them, unfortunately decided to vote for the BPQ feeling betrayed by the government. They felt they are in a dictatorship anyway, what difference would it make if Hungarians ruled over us?

As unfortunate as it sounds, it wasn't the perfect solution to the problem. Nor was the list the fairest one possible. In no way, it is in Canadian values to predetermine who one should vote for. If anyone had any better ideas to quell this insurgence, they should have come forward with it instead of just complaining. Given the time frame, this was the only idea which made sense. So what if you can't vote for any one who you want for a day? The bottom line is that we want a free Canada, and in no way were we going to be free under the Hungarians. At least the present government was an elected one.

In such times of crisis, we may to put your values behind you for a moment, and follow your leader. That's what leaders are elected for, to make decisions for us. Bruck proved to be a great leader in this case.

Election Day
eCanada was abuzz that day, the IRC, forums and media was full of action. Many Canadians stayed on IRC all day to direct voters to the right direction. Moving tickets were also being sold/distributed on the IRC for voters. Unfortunately, some congressmen were found poaching on the IRC even though they didn't need any more votes. They were looking for personal gains rather than that of Canada as a whole. I personally got three offers, one of them, a very influential Congressman but turned them down politely because I wanted to vote in the last moments to make my vote as effective as possible.

JT_Vanguard and others, led the IRC and directed voters tirelessly all night. It was partly due to his efforts, we stand today as a free nation. He instructed me to vote for a specific candidate in the last 10 minutes of the night, as a result of that single vote, there is one less Hungarian today in the congress. His efforts will not be forgotten by the citizens of Canada. It was due to the collective effort of all Canadians that we stand today as a strong and independent nation.

To the Hungarians
Many of you claim that you come here in peace (or was it PEACE). Canada is a welcoming country, in RL as well as in eRepublik. But no person who migrates to another country runs for congress in the first opportunity. If you wanted to start a new life here, you were welcome, we respect hard working people. But no immigrant in his right mind would first TO a political party and then try to TO the congress.

If you came in peace, why did you have to have 25 Congressional candidates in your very first month here?

Why did none of your "good willing" candidates have anything close to a Presentation?

Why did you fly so many people into our country on the day of elections?

Why did we find this document floating around in the Hungarian IRC?

Find a clearer version here.Images Courtesy: RoyMunson

In the above document, we see a clear effort by the insurgents to take over 25 seats, thus gaining a majority in Congress.

Ok, Let's still give you the benefit of doubt and believe you!

After getting a handful of seats in the Congress, why did you have to propose a series of laws which could have been detrimental to the Canadian Economy?

And, who were you kidding with the badminton story?

How can we be safe in the future?
- Spread out Canadians, your eRep location doesn't have to be your RL location. Provinces which are sparsely populated have a higher chance of being taken over and are seen as soft targets by foreign invaders.

- Don't desert your political parties. An empty party is like giving a Hungarian rapist viagra.

- Stay united in the face of foreign aggression.

- And never my friend, Never invite your Hungarian friends over for Goulash
