[WeThePeople] THANK YOU!

WeThePeople!

Yesterday was the ingame elections for WTP. I want to thank everyone for their support in primary and ingame yesterday. There was a slight bit of confusion as to who to support as all candidates had not dropped, so trust me when I say the support meant all that more lol.

I had promised an indepth look at the points on my platform plus a Cabinet Update in my last article, originally to be announced on the 15th. Real life happened so now we’ve got it on the morning of the 16th.

My platform for this month is as follows:

#1- Retention has 3 mediums: Ingame, Forum and IRC. Forum development will be finished, Ingame is split accross Recruitment and Media, and finally we’re going to make an IRC push.

#2- Recruitment is as much about what you know as it is how you get people. We’ve made sure the basic high-yield recruitment tactics are functioning and, soon enough, we’re going to be adopting recruiting people into the community instead of just the party (Community welcomings, orchestrated by recruitment). Once high-yield and community recruitment are done, we move to low-yield recruitment (more on that later).

#3- We’re going to have the most interesting Congress season we’ve had in months. Both during the primaries and after.

#4- Internal political functionings will run without mistake. This involves a return of PAC under highly competent leadership and continuing the awesome that is Communications.

#5- WTP Media will return in force.

#6- We’re going to have newer WTPs become outspoken, active leaders of our party and its values. And that, is more important than anything.

Now that I have the chance, I’d like to go indepth on these points.

#1- Retention:

In my view, good retention rates are a product of positive experiences for the members. Retention is very much so a team effort in the strong sense that we require the community to be on board with helping new friends and old ones enjoy their time here. Like any team effort though, it requires leadership from the Executive.

We are given three mediums of interaction in eRep: Forums, IRC and the most prominent Ingame. We’ve recently began a wonderful Forum push. The goal of that push is to have more “content” posts on our forums, more game activities on the forums and more accounts to enjoy both those things. That’s progressing well - articles are being published getting out the word, posts are hyping up…etc. As long as our WTP community continues to support the intiative, I see this going nowhere but up.

Our IRC chan too is blessed with a great deal of activity. I’ve always found this the most difficult medium to maintain so, that’s a great thing to walk into a term with. In light of this benefit, I feel comfortable maintaing the current focus on the forums while starting a push to drive up and structure IRC activity.

This month retention will be tasked with looking at an IRC game, bringing chanstats back (so we know exactly how awesome we are. I’ve always had a thing for detail), regularly updating the channel topic + community nights. I want to start a habit of WTP Leadership taking excellent care of our #wtp IRC home. I have full faith Retention can accomplish this.

#2- Recruitment:

Recruitment’s focus this month was to check in on the usual high-yield recruitment tactics (messaging new members as well as others) and expand in “community” recruitment. That is to say- Got them in the party ingame? Good job! Now, we welcome them, we get on their friends feed, we show them the media, the “tanks”, the forums, the IRC, the leadership as so on.

tl;dr-

Thanks doges.

That’s going to take time to finish. The background stuff is being developed sure, but the final product has yet to launch (though I will commit to it being launched within the first 10 days of my Presidency).

However, Recruitment will not be stopping there. Why? Because we’re seeing the largest fight for the #3 Party Spot, even the right to remain in the Top5, we’ve seen in months. BSP, AMP, WTP are virtually tied for members. SFP is quickly catching up as well.

Low-yield recruitment takes a great deal of effort and is very hit and miss - I know, I tried as Recruitment Director under…DMJ, I believe and dun f***ed up. Thankfully, I’ve learned from that and have worked with the Executive this month to try out a few things, based around the principle that:

People want a party that works for them which they’d be proud to work for. As such, it’s important to show what WeThePeople contributes to our e-societal conversation. I’ll be working with our Congress delegation this month to push our message as the party of fairness and inclusion out to the masses. In addition, recruitment will be working with the “NEW MEDIA” to drive the “New WTP” forward. People like activity. Lucky for us, we’re active.

#3- Congress

So we’ve established that we are fighting for the Top5 right now. Excellent. Even better? We’re pushing back in Congress.

I was disappointed with our results this month while frankly, I have seen worse. But a lower turnout like that is never good for your spirits. Regardless, the Party of Fairness and Inclusion doesn’t give up. It’ll be taking sometime to fix our Congress performance and while I promise no miracles, I do promise that under a Hale26 term we’re going to attack with initiative.

The first step to this is the idea I introduced of mandating campaigning. Discussion is live now. Vote held in 48 hours and a community consensus will be had by about the 20th. The primaries begin on the 22nd, so assuming the referendum doesn’t get crushed - we’re going to have an interesting primary season. That has ripple effects accross the board in terms of National Results. I’d like to see if there is someway we can display all the campaigning in a one-stop place: No guarantees on that though.

With PAC and the entire WTP Leadership, I’m also going to make a push to have the highest number of candidates register for Congress both ingame and on primary in months.

Additionally, as I mentioned in the Recruitment Section I want our Congressmen to live out the WTP party commitment to fairness - fairness meaning, you elect us, we’re with you on the 26th, the 27th, th2 28th…not just the 25th when we want your vote. A WTP-Speakers Word is being looked at to bring that forward.

#4- Politicial Action Committee

In playing as a populist party, our election proccess has more upkeep than a traditional forum one. With this and without this there is room for error - Congress forms not reviewed properly, primaries not started on time…etc. This month wasn’t too bad in that regard. But the difference between “too bad” and “perfect” is too large to not work on.

So we’re bringing back PAC - the Political Action Committee, to be chaired by MrCarey. Its goal is to essentially dedicate itself to maintaining the structural functionings of our internal elections. I have every faith that difference between “too bad” and “perfect” will be bridged no problem with this leadership.

#5- Media

Of the mediums for communication ingame, there are shouts, messages and articles. The first two are easy enough to have but articles are tricky. The problem is - they’re one of the best ways, if not the best way, to really bring people to your party.

Media this month has improved as the Executive has been more active. We’re going to be aiming to improve that by returning WTP’s Writer’s Guild. The Writer’s Guild was a group of paid writers in WTP who turned out creative pieces as well as smexy press releases. I have someone in mind for the position, but we’re still talking it out - so I can’t just go into who will be chairing the initiative.

In addition to encouraging members to write and taking on Exec writing assignments, I’m going to see about WG tracking Party Media to see how we compare in terms of votes, comments, articles and endorsements at any given time. Might even bring out a graph every two weeks or so.

In short: I believe in structure.

Always have and likely always will. This entire platform is built around making a better, more fun WTP that can outlast quite a few of us. Now that elections are over, I’m excited to get to work with my Exec for you.

And as always: If you want to give back to your party through party workings, lemme know.

Thank you
.
