Good Afternoon India!

I'm proud to announce that we have joined the ERepublik Defense & Economic Network, better known simply as EDEN. As the President has announced here, we are currently serving as Trial Members for EDEN. This means we have the next two or three months to prove ourselves to EDEN as an asset and a friend.

Building Soft Power

As I noted in a previous article, India needs to work on growing its Hard Power and its Soft Power. Joining EDEN is the first step towards achieving both of these goals. EDEN is probably the best organized, most effective alliance currently in the game as they have proven themselves in the war with ONE, which produces nearly twice as much damage.

In addition to establishing ourselves as friends among our stronger, European allies and other members of EDEN, we are further developing our soft power through the fostering of better relations. This kind of influence that India is gaining is critical to our future success on and off the battlefield and in exercise our foreign policy and protecting our national interests.

Building Hard Power

When I first got here little over a month and a half ago, India had no centralized military force. The military capacity of India was roughly divided into Marcos, Azad Hind Fauj and the newer Elite Indian Air Force. All of these for all intents are purposes still exist as purely independent militia's, outside of the governments control. As the recent war in Thailand has shown us, we need better organization.

While serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I presented my own suggestion as a viable alternative. The creation of a government endorsed, Congressionally funded and controlled military unit, that follows the orders of the Country President as the Commander-In-Chief. Thus we now have the birth of the Indian Armed Forces.

Last month I was named the Commandant of the Indian Armed Forces. The establishment of the IAF is the second step in India's path to developing credible hard power. Through centralized control, government funding and stable membership, the IAF will prove to be India's greatest foreign policy asset. From fighting for our allies in EDEN and providing valuable damage to serving as a central tool for retention, the IAF is where our money in our future lies.

Stay tuned for some announcements in regards to the Indian Armed Forces and my campaign for Party President of Yuuva India!

Signed,
Sir Valaro Volcrum
Vice President of India
Commandant of the Indian Armed Forces
