[VP Scenario 1] Muglack's Response.
Muglack
I wouldn't have a cabinet.
They're useless.
Just like Deputy Speakers in Congress.
If you can't do the job yourself, don't run for office.

Indeed.
Someone elect this madman!
Do it all by PMs, too. All natural, no prophylactic forum to get between you and the raw feel of the game.
Prima facie evidence to support Muglack's statement:
Muglack provided absolutely no value to the government as my Minister of Defence in the first term and as CP I fulfilled the role myself until he was removed and replaced.

"Muglack provided absolutely no value to the government as my Minister of Defence in the first term and as CP I fulfilled the role myself until he was removed and replaced."
You mean when I quit and you didn't want me too?
When will your revisionist history end?
😁^
yep, when he went to bat for you.
so: you quit, he would have preferred you stay and do your job, you preferred not to, so you quit, quit like wally cleaver quit cause the job was too much for him, and quit for various good reasons. Nothing wrong with quitting. Even after someone goes to bat for you. But if you quit you don't contribute anything of value, which was addy's point; and if you don't do anything of value before you quit, you don't contribute so you may be useless and that was your point in this article wasn't it? I'm gonna quit writing now.
Apparently me writing my own name makes you appear twice as fast. I'll have to remember that for the future.
Actually how it went down was this.
PDP and I were giving opinions on plans and tactics (me as MoD, and him as VP).
None of them were gonna happen because the UK was there to fight and EDEN/TERRA aren't fans of their members being imaginative.
Then about a week into the term Roger Griswald thought the sky was falling and came after Addy/Rolo/me and said we were working with ONE because MG leaked the "What if we join ONE" topic from the forums and all that lovely fall out.
Then after it became clear that Roger was completely full of crap, articles that were promised were never released, "evidence" never surfaced, and the whole story basically fell apart I went back to doing my job as MoD which I had been doing the whole time.
A little while later my RL got hectic and I knew I wasn't gonna be around as much for the next couple weeks so I stepped down as MoD. Not because of what I was doing, or anyone else was doing in game, but simply because I knew I wouldn't have the time.
But you can be sure my replacement was up to the task. Ibhoy didn't send one PM in the in-game circulars that cabinet had (for some reason I was still included up until that end of that term), and in fact wasn't even eCanadian for his tenure as MoD the last week and a half of Addy's first term in office.
Now I don't even need to mention the MoD after that. To use the word "useless" would be an understatement. From what I hear the current group of people dealing with our allies are having a hard time explaining where eCanada's been for 3 months, because they hadn't heard a peep from our CP, MoFA, or MoD. But I guess those are the type of things that happen when none of them log onto IRC. Ever.
So in the future if you wanna be the "Condescending American" or help revise history with Addy, you should at least get the facts right that you're trying to change.
mug: I don't understand. You say you were a minister and that all ministers are useless. I didn't really agree cause frankly I know of a lot of ministers who did stuff that was useful. And, also frankly, I thought addy did the right thing to back you up as you seemed to have been doing okay and there was a b.s. job put up to attack you. But, hey, I'm not the one saying all ministers are useless --- you are. See your article, above.
Were you to revise your opinion to "some ministers are/have sometimes useful", I wouldn't have any difficulty agreeing.
Now as to the quitting thing... makes sense to quit sometimes.. but it might have been better for Wally to have had a great cabinet to help him... he might have avoided quitting.
I find you an entertaining and thoughtful writer, hence i read what you write. I will try to adopt a tone that isn't condescending.

So such work can't be done in-game? Making IRC some sort of requirement when it is actually optional may be leading to such disparities in communication. That's another pet theory of mine.
It does not exclude the possibility that they would have been inactive doing such work in-game, too.
Is it creditable that a president can't find any competent people in all of eCanada? If so, ....
I was President.
I had a Cabinet.
I have a sense of humor and enjoy sarcasm.
I wrote an article.
Sarcasm doesn't translate on the internet.
Fall out ensues.

I think the easiest fix is to start either including the word "SARCASM" in my articles or to stop responding seriously to people that have missed the point.
Maybe both.
Fixe😛
