[VOTE] Issue 10 – The NPS NPS (October 10th – Day 690)
THE NPS NPS
Some of the more inquisitive readers of this week’s issue will no doubt ask, “Did he make a typo?” or, “What does that mean?” Well, I’ll tell you; “The Nelson-Patti-Smith New-President-Showdown!” Yes, it’s a little twist on words regarding this week’s Country President (aka Prime Minister) elections!
Last month, stewstoyc (or Scotywest) won the elections, only to drop out due to real life issues and be replaced by Melchizedek Smith, who has served us well until the recent elections. The elections featured 3 candidates; Patti11, Melchizedek Smith and H.Nelson, hence the issue’s title.
As a surprising start to the elections, Mel decided to go out of his Prime Minister term with a bang and make a Declaration of War to Indonesia, a proposal which was rejected.
Here are the results of the elections:
#1: Patti11 of the Australian Democratic Socialist Party (supported by the Australian Communist Party) with 255 votes (40.73%)
#2: Melchizedek Smith of the Australian National Party (supported by the True Blue Party, the More Beer Party and The Party) with 236 votes (37.70%)
#3: H.Nelson of the Australian Independents with 135 votes (21.57%)
Congratulations to Patti11, and good work to Mel and H.Nelson for running for the position.
A further analysis of the elections has been provided, once again, by H.Nelson, here. According to his analysis, the actual number of eligible voters of Patti’s and Mel’s party was much higher than the actual number of votes cast, while H.Nelson had more votes than expected in that sense.
EDITOR’S COLUMN
Well, this is the 10th (in official numbering) issue of the eAustralian! That means that for 11 weeks (Issue 0 was the first), this newspaper has been reporting on the occurrences in eAustralia, and for 10 weeks you, as an audience, have read, voted and subscribed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those people who have done so and supported me in that way.
Another significant event for me this week would have to be the Cabinet Position offered to me by H.Nelson. I received a mail a few days prior to the elections asking if I would be interested in a position as the Minister of Immigration, Customs and Security (or MoICS), which I promptly accepted. I have no doubt that this cabinet caused much controversy, but I still think that H.Nelson was justified in his actions by recruiting some fresh new minds, an approach which some more experienced players (for their own reasons) are afraid to try!
