[USWP] Spotlight on Ludonarr

Day 2,028, 15:10 Published in USA USA by Clint Carmel

Ludonarr is Party Spokesman for the USWP. He writes a column The Unbroken Circle, which I recommend as worth reading, and he has a Wiki page which can be found here: Ludonarr's Wiki Page

He was gracious enough to sit down and answer a few questions about himself and his time in eRepublik, so without further ado here is his interview:

1)Clint: How did you find eRepublik? Is this your first time here?
Ludonarr: I dabbled with a throwaway account during WWIII. I think Emerick was POTUS at the time. I stayed for a week or two then let my citizen die.

2) Clint: Ludo means 'to play.' What inspired the name Ludonarr?
Ludonarr: It is meant to be a shortening of ludonarrative, which is the part of video game storytelling controlled by the player. I felt it was fitting for a player-driven "game" like eRepublik.

3) Clint: Do you have a favorite part of the game or meta-game?
Ludonarr: My favorite part of eRep itself has been the media module. I love writing, so getting to publish and see other's work is fantastic. My favorite part of the meta-game is probably the forums at this point. I like the sense of community and ability to pool ideas together in a central location, whether for serious business or lulz.

4) Clint: What attracted you to the USWP initially?
Ludonarr: I faintly recalled them being top dogs when I tried eRepublik before. However, when I joined they were the ones that messaged me with more than just, "Hey join us, we're fun." They answered my questions and helped me learn how to play the game the right way.

5) Clint: How did you end up USWP Spokesman?
Ludonarr: I think a lot of it was being in the right place at the right time. I got some good press outta my first few articles and became active in the USWP portion of the forums and on IRC. Our Party President Othere took notice and found me a job when an opening popped up. You'd have to ask him for more details.

6) Clint: What inspires you about the current USWP player-base? Any people who stand out? (People who mentored you or helped you, for example)
Ludonarr: Obviously I don't have the broader context, but according to vets we seem to be having a USWP renaissance of late. I am in awe of the great ideas and dedication we have flowing out of our players, from bottom to top. Specifically Othere and Wild Owl have spent a lot of time lending me support and helping me hone my eRepublik skills.

7) Clint: How are you enjoying the Air Force? (Add anything about your military career that you want to mention.)
Ludonarr: The eUSAF is...interesting. At first I just requested supplies and followed orders, but grew bored and asked for a promotion. Now that I am a SXO (Squad Executive Officer) I spend a bit more time answering questions and trying to keep my squaddies on the straight and narrow. I'd like to keep moving up if the opportunity arises.

😎 Clint: For those who haven't yet read it, talk a bit about "The Unbroken Circle."
Ludonarr: "The Unbroken Circle" began publication titled "Dissonance". The first few articles were very much a role-play narrative of my first steps in the game. I did this to gloss over my newb lack of knowledge starting out. Some readers seemed disappointed when I moved away from that format, but I feel it was for the best. Now I focus on writing opinions on issues of the day and also using my paper to publish USWP articles. Currently, my paper is noted for liberal use of Calvin & Hobbes comic strips.

9) Clint: Do you subscribe and read other papers? If yes, which category?
Ludonarr: I really enjoy reading other papers, especially social and politically focused ones. For as much as vets claim the media module is a shell of its former self, there are some great writers right now.

10) Clint: Any last words? Feel free to add any general comments or opinions, things you're working on, thoughts for the day or whatever.
Ludonarr: I firmly believe in a focus on game mechanics over role play in eRepublik. I'd like to see Unity ended in the near future and an avenue created for newfriends to have a seat at the decision-making table. I think RGR is a pest best ignored instead of antagonized. I prefer brunettes to blondes and an aged whiskey over a good beer. In my opinion, complacency is the biggest threat facing the eUS at this stage in the game.
