[UKRP] Policy, Identity and Congress-y!

Day 1,800, 09:03 Published in United Kingdom France by Madacaion

So congress is around us – and so the avalanche of political articles begins!

This article is pretty huge so I’ll put in a bit of a contents page so you can jump to the bits that interest you.

1) UKRP Policy and Identity
Nice fluffy stuff showing how we as a party see the eUK, what we want to do in the eUK and how we want to get there. These are LONG TERM party objectives and goals without defining detail of each activity.

2) UKRP Congress Aims
What UKRP congress members want to do this term

3) UKRP Community Outlook
A lot of people have been talking about the forums, Military Units and generally how we’re all either elite or incompetent. Read the UKRP’s stance on this here.

So on to the good stuff…

UKRP Policy and Identity

Domestic

The eUK should be removing barriers for new players to advance within the eUK. It is important to realise that responsibility given helps to open up the areas of politics (within the ministry or parties) and helps to ensure that new citizens realise not only what each area does – but that if they want it to work, they can help to make it work. This will not only increase the prosperity of the eUK but also help to keep new players involved.

The UKRP is committed to open debate and logical discussion at all levels. No member should feel that they couldn’t talk to another member of the eUK. Respect and tolerance of each other should be encouraged.

The goals of the UKRP can be summed up as follows:

1) To advance the eUK through its citizens through timely, relevant information.
2) To engage the public in all aspects of eUK life
3) To build upon our new players
4) To foster a culture of debate, not flaming or mudslinging, based on reasoned assessment of the facts at hand.

Economic

The eUK will ensure that the funds required to defend herself at times of dire need are available. This could come through many different forms – investment, taxation or stockpiling – although will ultimately be used in an emergency. This should never be to excess, and once to an acceptable level the income should be used in different ways to further the goals of the eUK.

Government policies with regards to tax should be carefully balanced; light enough to prevent strangulation of the private sector but without creating an overall deficit.

Government run schemes should always involve some form of return for the government to ensure that we can continue to care for the next generation of eUK citizens and cover investments from those who cannot or will not repay.

The eUK should keep her citizens informed, as far as is practical, to ensure that people not only understand what the government is doing with the taxes – but why.

The goals on the UKRP can be summed up as follows:

1) To ensure the eUK has sufficient funds to ensure supply in times of need
2) Lobby the eUK tax policy to be carefully balanced – although lighter taxes are favoured.
3) Ensure that the eUK is looking forward with its player schemes and is not simply part of the cycle of giveaways
4) Public viewing, where appropriate of the financial situation

Foreign

The eUK is always reliant on good relations with other members of the eWorld. Though good communication she should ensure open communications with as many different eCountries as possible.

Our word is our bond and as such the eUK will continue to support her allies during their endeavours. Ensuring that our allies know when the eUK has set orders to help our allies and communicating quickly but reasonably when we feel we require help.

Alliances are a great way of ensuring stability around our borders, however joining, leaving or forming these alliances should be taken with great care – consideration and, if the option is available, with input from the public.

On immigration, the eUK should maintain a high standard of citizenship without being either too punitive or harsh on members that may of made mistakes in there ePast. The eUK should be wary but not dismissive.

The goals of the UKRP can be summed up as follows:

1) To ensure the eUK maintains its good name
2) To open relations with as many different governments as possible
3) To support our allies whenever required
4) To ensure immigration is possible without unnecessary restriction

Government

The eUK’s government should be open for all and, where appropriate, be cross party – involving a range of experience levels. The eUK should be able to depend on its government to be the example for new players – encompassing high levels of activity, communication and generally being approachable for help.

The eUK’s CP should have a clear agenda, published and debated upon by the general public. This should detail (where possible) not only what, but how, the CP aims to achieve their objectives. While experience is not required and should not be a stumbling block to motivated candidates, the CP does require some degree of game and government knowledge.

Congress members should behave in a manner that is respectful to the elected CP. They should be active and willing to help the eUK in any way required, including but not limited to, ministry work.

The goals of the UKRP can be summed up as follows:

1) To instil a pride in government officials from the UKRP
2) To apply and help in as many areas as possible
3) To gain leadership and knowledge skills – and then pass these down through our membership
4) To ensure that all government officials remain active, communicative and responsible throughout their elected term

UKRP Congress Aims

The UKRP views congress as the conduit through which the democratically elected CP can implement their policies. As such – the UKRP congress members will support the CP’s (either this or next terms) final decisions. This doesn’t mean that we’ll blindly just vote whichever way they choose, like we’ve stated before - fair and reasonable debate is necessary, but we will not stand in the way.

Following on from that, Impeachment will only be supported if the CP is inactive, a cheat or if outright dangerous for the eUK – (like trying to declare war on Poland & USA dangerous – something pretty much world ending and nothing less).

On Immigration:

The UKRP will follow the policies of the current CP, whatever they may be. They will not be bribed for membership nor will they simply let in members in exchange for support of their party. We will always look out for the eUK and will continue to push for tight, but not overly restrictive, immigration laws.

On overall government:

We will as a party continue to offer our services to the government bodies and ministries. Again the guiding principles of the UKRP will apply.

UKRP Community Outlook

Forums:

We will aim to move as much as possible interaction away from the forums and into the IRC/Feeds/In-game articles. We will hopefully look to make the forum our depository for important stuff or changes but not as the main point of contact for members.

On the current forum – while we would like to see the appeals process more visible and open (i.e. in a thread) we still feel that this should be under the current moderation team. In principle we have no issue with the forum in its current state, nor do we see why this has become a defining policy for some parties. We would welcome deregulation of some of the forum areas allowing for off-topic or in some cases necro’d topics however congress sensitive, public discussion and other areas such as these will require a strong guiding hand to ensure that information isn’t leaked, discussion derailed and that proper debate can occur.

IRC:
WE LOVE IRC – come find us at #UKRP

Free Giveaways:

We will not simply give away things to hold onto our members. Information, however, is freely (and quite often 😛) given to members of ALL parties. The eUK needs people who are invested in the game because they built themselves up through a sense of achievement – not just because they got lots of free stuff. Zero-low interest loans however are a powerful and useful tool. We have a number of oldies who will happily give out food however as and when you require it provided you ask. This isn’t a UKRP scheme but is simply done out of the kindness of our oldies hearts.

MU’s:

There are no requirements saying that you must join a political MU – and we would in fact encourage you to join one which is not party affiliated (such as the “new” national military – the Legion) because it helps to broaden your view without just getting caught up in one group of people.

If you’ve managed to make it this far – well done!

Tl:dr?
The UKRP will always work for the eUK’s best interests , supporting our current laws and looking to engage in proper debate for change, where required, by changing these laws – not replacing them. We will not overlook any member, neglect the democratic process or act in an aggressive manner towards any other group.

Feel free to PM any questions.
