[UKRP] My shot at Party Presidency

Day 1,882, 13:04 Published in United Kingdom Switzerland by Dan/naD Wilshire
Dan/naD Wilshire for UKRP Party President!

The Introduction

First off I would live to give a shout out to DarkMantle and his last article as UKRP Party president. He is a good guy and a very hard worker and it has been an honour to get to work with him.

But now, onto the focus of my article. It is my intention to become the UKRP’s next party president. When I first joined the game it was a battle between TUP and the UKRP for top spot. Since then it was my dream to one day become PP of one of those great party’s and it has something that I have aspired to achieve in game.

Since coming back to the eUK and joining the UKRP it has reminded me that this is not just a party, it is a community and in many ways a family made of new and old who come together, have a laugh and support each other through the game. The sort of atmosphere that the party creates is one of the reasons I am still playing this game. I came here for the game but I stay because of the people I have met.

Our policies can be shown here, wonderfully published by Thomas765:

As far as the party’s policies are concerned I strongly believe that they reflect the views of our members and they support the direction that the party needs to head in order to secure it’s sport back in the top 5.

Increasing party membership

With the party comfortably positioned in sixth place a main focus of this month will be to regain ground on ESO so we can climb back into the top 5 in time for congress. Like many goals this is easier said than done. It will take a long time and a lot of effort on behalf of the party to increase our membership numbers to the extent needed to secure us a top 5 position.

Inside the UKRP a recruitment office needs to be officially set up so that we can establish a firm foundation for our recruitment team to build from. I feel that a team or 3-5 party members should be permanently in the recruitment office for a term so that they can organise efficiently a team of party members along with themselves a way of encouraging new players to join the party.

But recruitment on its own will not have us achieve our goal of a top 5 position. The IRC and the forum are both great tools which I feel have had a great success of keeping playing involved with what is going on in the game (from my personal experience). I want to expand on that by bringing back some community games such as the Pub Quiz and possible a lottery for the members to get involved in. The community is what makes the game and to keep players active and involved you need to engage them and keep everyone entertained.

The Government

Even though we passed up running our own candidate at the last minute it is my belief that people should be given the widest range of choice. I also believe that if we have someone capable of running the country then they should and will be given the chance to run for President.

Not only will I push for a UKRP party member to stand for presidency, I will also look within the ranks of the UKRP to find energetic and enthusiastic party members who have an interest in becoming a part of the cabinet so that as a party we can provide them with help and support to get them applying for cabinet positions within the winning government. The experience, knowledge and understanding that many of our party members possess can be hugely beneficial to our newer less experienced members and I will push to better connect the old and the new so the party can grow not only in size, but its involvement within the working of the eUK’s government.

The Future of the party

As a party it is our goal to get into the strongest position available whether it is 5th, 3rd or 1st in the party rankings. To achieve this a lot of time needs to be put in not only by the PP, but the rest of the party as well. I see the Party President as the one who pushes to start every good idea that a party member has with the goal of helping them independently or run the idea as a team while the Party president checks over it and push forward new ideas too. My last exam is the afternoon of the 15th so after that I will have a lot of spare time to dedicate to the party.

It has been a while since I have got myself involved in politics, and even longer since I have been the Party president of a serious party like the UK Reform. With the support of the party and other individuals this feels like the right time to once again become fully politically active. Being a CP, congress member of minister is nothing compared with the feeling of getting your party into the top 5. That is my goal, and it is something that I plan to strive for as soon as the elections are over.

Final Note

Well that is the basics of what I want to do for the party. All I can do now is wish the best of luck to Appleby and may the best man win!
