[UKRP] Congress this month

Day 2,260, 21:06 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Thomas765

With the congress elections all wrapped up and the results pretty much clear, it's time to get to work. We've not had any proposals this term for congress so far, the last three ending today after the previous term.

Donations to the Bank of England and NHS

Given the theft of the treasury last month, a new campaign from the government, although discreet, was started in order to attempt to rebuild some sort of supply as best as possible. Last month, I donated my 5 gold to the Bank of England but a few others have began doing the same this month. From the UKRP:

- Thomas765: Bank of England (865 GBP; 5 gold at the time)
- Elvis Trout: Bank of England (1000 GBP; 5 gold at the time)
- Jolyon Wagg: NHS (950 GBP)

Please note, it isn't compulsory to donate the gold for medals to the accounts, but rather based on goodwill. If you didn't know about the donations and would like to donate, feel free to send Kravenn a message in the congress PM expressing your intent. Based on data collected by the government, here is the break down on a party basis:

The highest proportion of congressmen from a party that donated so far, were from British Army, formerly known as New Era. Their candidates were informed of the idea prior to the election, although I'm told all PPs were also informed. 19 congressmen donated or expressed their will to donate their medal gold or equivalent in GBP to the government, which is the equivalent of 95 gold or 19000 GBP. Essentially, congress funded nearly two MPPs this month or tens of thousand units of food for the NHS. Party statistical analysis is based on responses to the government's form for congressmen and on alan warwickshire's article on NHS donations.

Election results

According to Neil Lewis' article just after the congress elections had finished, the UKRP finished with a gain of 23 votes from the previous month. After having spent a few months on the decline, we're back up at nearly 100 members and a gain of two congressmen. I'd like to encourage activity in the party with regards to congress as it is an exceptionally interesting time in terms of foreign affairs, where congress has a hand in making the decisions for the nation.

UKRP's congressmen for February 2014 are as follows:

1. Ziltoid16
2. Jolyon Wag
3. Elvis Trout
4. Kapten Johnson
5. Sir Humphrey Appleby
6. Thomas765
7. James Scarlet

The candidate order was based on Madacaion's UKRP Uni congress podcast where we all had to answer questions. In addition to activity as well.

I'll probably release weekly articles related to our positions in congress.
