With the Party President elections done, we can focus on the month ahead and really get to work.
For a while, some of us in the UKRP forgot that we are, first and foremost, a political party in eRepublik. Our party has always been the 'active' and 'fun' party, which is why it was so easy to take our eyes off the ball for a while. Joking around on Minecraft and Skype are way more fun than sending out party mailers and writing articles.
As of today, we're back to business as usual. Party work isn't hard, and doesn't take much time. I've already broken our volunteers into two groups, and I'm basically asking them for about 30 minutes a week, OR hosting an event for an hour to 90 minutes, depending on what they signed up for.
The two teams are the:
Programming Team - Responsible for the non-party party activities. Everything out of game. Skype sessions, Minecraft wars, CK2, and Civ V games...IRC Quiz nights, and general shenanigans. If you're interested in helping organize these things, or just want to find out when they're going to be happening, drop me a message.
Administrative Team - Party mailers, recruitment, Congressional candidate selection, organizing Presidential preference primaries, all of these types of activities will fall under Team Admin.
We already have a few people looking at starting up some brand new programs, including a static voice chat service. No need to track people down for a group on Skype, just log on and talk to whoever is hanging out.
All UKRP members are encouraged to fill out our interest survey.
In that vein, there will be a party meeting on Sunday at 4PM BST in #UKRP on IRC. This is an open meeting, everyone is welcome. I'll be giving out prizes for people who offer especially good ideas for party activities for the month.
I firmly believe, and have since I was first a UKRP member years ago, that the stronger our party is, the stronger our country can be. We need to be fierce in our convictions and dedicated to improving things. We have to strive to promote the best policy we can, and we need to nominate the absolute best people for Congress and the Presidency.
We are the oldest party in this country, and have had a hand in shaping the eUK. That isn't a legacy to be taken lightly, nor is it something we can point to as an excuse not to strive for more.
It is only by being united that we can leave a legacy worth leaving, and I hope you'll work with us to do so.
As always, I remain
just another OTHER guy
