[UK Reform] Thomas for PP?

Day 1,908, 20:52 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Thomas765

So, uh, hey there UKRPers!

What a month this is turning out to be in terms of activity in the UKRP. Unfortunately, I missed a lot of the IRC side of the activity due to my laptop deciding to fry itself. But a new laptop has been brought into my possession so I can be active again on IRC and other places 🙂

Funny start menu

But as I said, this has been an incredible month for activity in the party. The recent primary election saw 24 votes cast and the party presidential election on Thursday will put this into some degree of perspective for the party. The recent four PPs have done a great job in rebuilding the party from the shell it had slowly become.

So, who I am

Well, I'm Thomas. I have been party president of the UKRP three times in the past and five times overall, the other two times being in a party in Austria. Party presidency, out of all three in-game positions, is the position that I enjoy the most. I'll go more in depth about my past successes as PP in one of the next sections. In addition to this, I have been president of the UK and Minister of Foreign Affairs on five occasions.

My plan

We're a party that now prides itself on being a small, close-knit community that help each other out. There is very little that can now change that.

Media

What I want to see is more regular media active, particularly from the PP as they aren't really elected to sit around. The PP should have a more active role in parties. However, it should not just be the PP that posts articles. I will actively encourage other members to allow the UKRP to keep a regular media presence. We are an active party, so let's show everyone that we are.

CP Election

In addition, I believe that we should be convinced to support a candidate when it comes to the CP elections. CP candidates or their PP will be required to contact us directly before making it on our primary. No ifs, no buts; no exceptions. We may be a smaller party but we are still a party nonetheless. The same could be said for our own candidates wishing the support for other parties.

Party Roles

Party roles will be introduced formally with rewards perhaps being established for hard work within the party. The primary focus for the upcoming term for a Thomas term for PP will be recruitment. We fell to below 84 members before the congress elections and we have gained 20 since then. I wish to have us increase our recruitment rate to get back into the top five for this month's congress election.

We each have a part to play in the party and I think that if we each put our heads down for something once a day or more we can become even more successful. Of the roles, they will be split into teams of people with particular aims, such as Media, Recruitment, Election and Community teams, each having similar but different tasks to perform.

In addition, a Vice Party President will be needed.

Congress

We are only a small party so it is essential that we have an active presence in congress if we are to have our views brought across in the wider UK community. I am all for electing new members. I was only elected this month because I was meant to be a placeholder candidate while a newer candidate was meant to be running.

We have a bit of interesting month ahead as we are fast approaching the top 5 after a few weeks of decline. So we will need to prepare for the potential of being back in the top 5 for congress.

Community

Community projects will continue. I will personally be encouraging more activity in "Discussions" regardless of whoever is PP on Thursday. I think it's a great way for party members - all of us - to get to know each other much better.

Recruitment

This is my primary aim for the following month. The last time I was UKRP President, we were able to reach well over 360 members. That obviously isn't my aim for next month but recruitment seems to be something that I can organise well. My overall aim is to try and get the party back into the top five.

My past as a PP

Okay, so as I said above, I would do a section on my past as a UKRP PP and here it is:

I first became party president in April 2011. At the time, it was slightly overshadowed by an event occurring at the same time that saw the UK Worker's Party PTOd the very same month. I wasn't actually expecting to win as I was against GLaDoS. Anyway, this month was a quiet month but on a national scale it was eventful. Croatian PTOers were able to infiltrate the national congress of that month through UKRP, ESO and PCP. UKRP and TUP worked together during the night to block one of several PTOers, with both parties coordinating voters together behind the scenes. However regardless of the events, the UKRP were able to maintain the top spot in UK politics, electing the most congress seats.

My 'magnum opus' of PP terms came in July 2011 and August 2011 when I was elected once again for PP. The key achievements of these months were:
- The UKRP electing 17 out of 38 seats in congress.
- The UKRP becoming the largest party in the UK for the first time since 2009:

- An incredible voting turnout for August:

- The UKRP electing Thorrold as country president.
- UKRP activity going through the roof with as many as 25 people online on #ukrp.private at the best of times.
- The introduction of UKRP Hydra.
- The formation of UKRP Community.
- The introduction of many schemes for UKRP members, including the XP growth scheme.
- The introduction of the party census.
- The ability to have fielded between 30 and 40 candidates for congress in three parties, a substantial number in PCP and The APP.

I'm not going to claim that these are my achievements. Rather, it is the UKRP's achievements together. A party is not a one man band. It is a group of people working together for a similar cause. We are stronger together; stronger when we work together.

So yeah, I'm running for PP this month. Your support would be much appreciated 🙂
