[UK-Reform] A policy of reform: part two & avatars

Day 1,870, 16:35 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Thomas765

Hello there,

Here is part two of UKRP's newly formed policy. Click here to read part one.

i. Foreword

As a party, we don't have a constitution that we strenuously adhere to, nor do we have a senior council to make decisions on behalf of the party. Those powers are both in the hands of the party members in order to ensure democracy.

We have expanded our policies beyond the simple topics of Military, Foreign, Economic and Domestic policy, including topics such as communication and administrative policy.

ii. Topics

In the previous article:
1. Party Alignment
2. The roles and responsibilities of a party
3. Policy on our involvement with other parties
4. Military Policy
5. Foreign Policy
6. Administrative Policy

This article will feature:
7. Tax Policy
8. Communication Policy
9. Domestic and Legislative Policy

7. Tax Policy

It is our belief that taxes should not be amended from 5%. The citizens of the UK can quite easily regain their contributions through a few of the government's schemes which the taxes pay for, such as Call to Arms. Any decrease in the taxes could mean long term financial strain on the national reserves, which could be vital for when we are fighting for our survival again. On the contrary, a tax increase would not benefit anyone as the gains from that would be minimal. Both tax decreases and increases would need to be heavily thought out before being considered as concessions would have to be made for both.

8. Communication Policy

It is our belief that both the government and the party should maintain a large degree of public press for all to see. This allows the citizens of the UK to be kept in the know about events on a regular basis. For this purpose, the party shall be appointing a media manager to oversee the party's articles and each of our country presidents - if any elections - shall be required to post regular updates both in-game and on the forums over the issues concerning the nation.

The eUK forums have been the national soul of the community since its foundation and we strongly believe that this should remain the case in the future. However, we equally understand that citizens do not wish to use the forums, preferring in-game methods instead and we will accommodate those people just as much as the forum users and IRC users in the form of articles, shouts and personal messages to our membership.

In order to prevent the corruption of our media, we officially stand against the use of the voters club to boost party articles. We believe it is essential for government information to be broadcasted to the public, as such we shall help promote such articles in our official party articles, regardless of the government or party in power.

9. Domestic and Legislative Policy

The idea of having a babyboom is great, however, we should, as a nation, prepare ourselves in advance of it. There is no point in having a babyboom if we do not have the ability to retain citizens. Retention should be one of the primary focal points of not only the government but for every established citizen, military unit and political party. We believe that a dedicated, apolitical team of mentors should be started up, in lieu of the civil service policy element that actively seek out and help new players in the first days of their life. These mentors will be responsible for not only mentoring them but also giving the government accurate reports of their success throughout the presidential term. The UK must be able to find ways to make this game more fun for these new citizens, whether that be by promoting games or by having wars. Retention is key.

There has been a rather stagnant atmosphere within the country lately, with arguing and fighting being commonplace between the major political parties. It is the government's responsibility to offer alternatives for people to get involved in to distract people from the general idea of fighting to having fun together. We do not agree on the idea of unity. We believe unity should only be used during periods of national degradation but unity in times of prosperity should be discouraged in order to keep people, parties and leaders in check.

The UKRP has, in the past, championed their successes on the legislative front. However, we are at a time when people are often preferring other methods of congress communication instead of the traditional one, which was the forums. We support the use of forums fully but we will use other methods of communication with our own congressmen should it be required. On a national scale, I believe that a common meeting place for all congressmen should be established but it is equally important that congress can be held accountable to the public as they were, afterall, elected by the public.

Avatars

I have created some generic designs for party members should they wish to have an avatar but don't want to have their own - although everyone should request their own in my opinion!

Universal use avatars

What to do with these is:
1. right-click and save the image to your computer
2. upload the image here.
3. wait for it to change in-game (this can sometimes take up to a day for whatever reason).

The images are also suitable for eUK forum usage. The following are the universal use avatars:

Custom made avatars

Every member has the ability to have their own avatar with their own image on it. Here's what to do:

1. Send me (Thomas765) over a message in-game or on the forums with the following details:
- Name (maximum of 10 characters, including spaces)
- Image (can be anything, within the rules of the game)
2. I will then make your avatar within a day or two in two formats - jpg and 150x150 pixel jpg
3. right-click and save the image to your computer
4. upload the image here.
5. wait for it to change in-game (this can sometimes take up to a day for whatever reason).

Here are some examples of custom made avatars:

That is all for this article 🙂
