[UK MoD Extra] Battle Report ~ Sorlandet and Brittany

Day 2,226, 09:42 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Max Blue

Hello all, its your Minister of Defence here. Together with others we will be keeping the MoD newspaper up to date and I urge you to check it out for the latest news and battle priorities. This is a long report so congratulations if you make it to the end. The seventh MoD Extra of this term...

On eRepublik day 2225 the UK attacked the recently freed French region of Brittany. Opponents of the UK started a resistance war in Sorlandet early to distract UK fighters. There was a lot of fighting by the UK and France over Brittany, but this quickly built as allies joining in. After a couple of rounds, the battle between proUK forces and antiUK forces was quite high.

Late into the night the battle for Sorlandet and the battle for Brittany were equal. The French were slightly ahead in Brittany and the UK was slightly ahead in Sorlandet. The UK MoD (myslef) had set CO early in the campaign but there were not many people fighting for it.

There were however lots and lots of people fighting for and against the UK. Tanks were running around dumping huge amounts of damage. Around battle 6-7 for Brittany the UK managed to get the help of some Venezuelan supertanks as well as many other allies around the globe and fighting really kicked off!

The UK then focused on Sorlandet, knowing that if this region was lost it would be a long time (if ever) before the UK would be able to retake it. However Brittany was also an important battle, in as much as; the UK wanted to end the camapaign by wiping them and ending the MPPed war.

Ending the battle would have stopped France from being able to go on the MPPed attack against the UK. At this time allied damage was flooding in. People were fighting for the UK and fighting hard. It was many nation's top priority and as MoD I didn't even have to ask for assistance. People understood the importance of ending the campaign. Huge amounts had been spend on combat orders now, but more was to be spent...

Over to Sorlandet... Friends said to me in PM's to drop Sorlandet and let it be lost, so we can focus on Brittany. However, I knew it would be a long time before we could retake any Norwegian region with France still in war mode. We would have RW's and would not be able to NE Norway even if we won in Brittany. I instructed UK forces to fight in Sorlandet as billions, yes billions, in allied damage was hammering down in Brittany (French support was also in the billions). The UK was winning rounds in Brittany at this time.

Next came sleep. I awoke like many at the start of round 13 in Brittany. There had been a lul in damage by all sides in the early morning and France was just behind the UK, however freedom fighters had brought Norway just ahead in their resistance war.

CO's were set at a high level at the start of Brittany's round 13 and the battle exploded again due to TWO waking up. I mean, really exploded, the battle was again a proxy war (TWO vs antiTWO). UK forces fought hard in Sorlandet to bring back rounds and very, very nearly closed the battle for a great win. However the tanking and a small CO failed to secure the victory. All UK damage was then pilled back onto the Brittany battle.

By this time the UK CO bill was staggeringly high. The UK CO brought in much, much more damage than the UK could do alone and the UK was winning in Brittany. The French also had CO's on and it was a really tough fight. We threw all the money and UK damage at securing these wars we could, however our opponents were able to put more damage onto the battlefield than us.

When I say hundreds and hundreds of Gold was used in this campaign I am not lying. Personally I believe this battle is part of the reason Q7 weapon prices are so high globally at the moment. True there were, and are other battles going on, but a staggering amount must have been used yesterday and today (day 2226).

Could we have won either Sorlandet or Brittany if we had dropped the other? Answer: possibly. However, UK priority was only moved onto Sorlandet when the UK was winning in Brittany (and over night). When these were set the UK was ahead in Brittany and trying to maximise damage was the aim. Remember if we lost Sorlandet (which we did) it would be a long time before we gain it back. CO and the international effort was always on Brittany and solely Brittany. If the UK was adding its damage to that battle would we have won it? Who knows? I did what I believe was correct in setting CO's, calling on assistance, being active and setting priorities. Would I have done some things different in hindesight? Probably, but then most of the time I would alter some aspects of what happened...

I would like to say a huge thank you to our night time damage; Argentina, Venezuela (and the Venezuelan tanks that joined us on our IRC channel), Taiwan, and everyone that fought hard over the night.

I would also like to thank all those that fought hard for us. I was there a lot of the time so I saw most of what went on. Respect to you all o7

Thank you to the proUK fighters from Hungary, Spain, Poland, Greece, Slovakia, Australia, New Zealand Thailand, Slovenia, Serbia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Belarus and all the proUK fighters from other countries. It was a good fight, and the most energy I have seen in a UK fight for awhile.
