[UK CP] Baptism By Fire

Day 2,299, 01:59 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

I want to start off by thanking you, the people of the United Kingdom, for going out to the polls yesterday. The people have spoken and have democratically elected me as your next President. We have a very busy and defining month ahead of us, so there is no time for a honeymoon period.

Consider this my victory speech.

We start this new term in the midst of a divided country, both territorially and ideologically. We have lost our gains in Scandinavia (although recently have regained a couple of those regions) and are currently down to nine of twelve original regions as a result of invading forces of Asteria-backed Moldova. France also looks like it will soon be declaring a NE on us. We cannot play the blame game and solely place my predecessor’s government for the situation we are in. There are many variables in play that ultimately went against us. But we must play with the cards we have been dealt with and move through these difficult times. In this time of a potential national crisis, we must work together, more than ever, regardless of what political party you are a part of or your political ideology. Let’s stop criticizing and work together to find solutions.

Hurdling through the first day on the job.

Having responded to dozens of messages and many more friend requests, the first day is always going to be a busy one. But I have already got the ball rolling. I have held multiple discussions with my cabinet members, and I believe this transition has gone smoothly. I have begun discussions with iAdrastos, the Speaker of the House, about Congress reform. We have agreed on multiple issues surrounding reform, and it looks like we will make good progress. While I believe Congress reform may take some time to implement, starting this journey is a step in the right direction.

That’s all the updates for now. Keep things short for now (plus I’m trying to do four different things at 2am in the morning while having to get up early). Just making sure everyone knows what they are doing. I am sure it will be a productive month, and most certainly an interesting one. Thanks again for electing me as your leader!

The Equalist
President of the United Kingdom
