New Legion Breaking News!

I have been saying for days and days that there is no need to worry about the BEF getting disbanded and that this is in no way related to TUP trying to get people into their MU. I can prove to you right now that it was complete fact.

Before Talon’s term he had a chat on IRC in which his hopeful future ministers were sat chatting. We were discussing things such as the campaign to help Talon become the CP and then what we thought was best for specific issues. One of the first ones to be discussed was the BEF. It was agreed fairly quickly and almost unanimously that the BEF was not working in its current state. It was too expensive, inactive and unstable. My firm belief is that national MUs always seem to fail due to no consistency, at least from what I can see in the eUK and heard from the past ones. Different CPs want to do different things with them and they end up ripping them apart!

It is right now that I want to announce that The Legion is becoming the national MU.

This plan first came into place before Talon’s term actually started. Rodney Mckay came up with the idea of offering The Legion to be used by the government as the national MU when it become obvious the BEF was soon to be retired. The Legion has always prided itself on the fact it took no money from the government and this will continue. It has taken us some time to prepare for this change and we believe we are finally ready. We had lots of things to iron out, the first of which was improving our supplies. The Legion saved for a long time to be able to afford the supplies we are going to start offering on Thursday so I am very proud of what we are achieving without any external help. We have the tier system to attempt to push people to be more active in this game. You can hit max supplies in the Legion simply by using all of your energy so even the newest of players can get the top supplies needed. Anyone with any ideas on how to feasibly promote activity even more, please let me know.

Our next step was to make it clear to everyone we were no longer ESO affiliated. The Legion has been ran separately for a long time, but you only really knew that if you worked behind the scenes for ESO or The Legion. I am sure some people are still not going to believe it, but, well, we are. Personally I have no party affiliation; I do not really find any of that aspect of the game fun. If I wanted to be flamed for my party, then sure, I would be in one as I am sure it wouldn’t take long, but until the eUK politics are about constructive discussions and articles don’t end up in flame wars I will be sitting out that module. Money is my passion, thus my role in The Legion and as MoF. ESO is in no way benefiting from The Legion becoming the national MU, nor is any other party.

Lastly we needed our new image. We still had an ESO badge in the MUs avatar simply because no one could ever be bothered to change it! I have to say, I love our new avatars and hope many people in the Legion decide to take it on. It not only looks really good, but is a great badge of honour. If you see anyone “wearing” it then you know they are putting down damage to do their best for the eUK!

How does this partnership actually work?

The Legion will continue to run as it does now. We will stay self funded and run. We will not have a MoD coming in every month to put their own stamp on the MU and change it as they like. Instead the MoD will now be about MU co-ordination which is much more beneficial to the eCountry as a whole. We will follow the orders set by the MoD to the T, we have trust in them that every battle we are directed to is beneficial or at least the best option of the time (last night we only had two options! Imagine if we had less MPPs). We will also open methods of communications with parties and the government for them to give us input. If in a few weeks they think that the tier system isn’t working and they have a better idea, we will sit down and discuss it with them. We will then come to a joint agreement. The key here is, everyone will have their say and no rash decisions will be made.

I understand that there are going to be people who are against this move. I don’t think this will be party related at all, but more personal preference. No one is forced to join The Legion, we are here to offer our services to the eUK and do the best we can for those who wish to join us.

Please can we not have a flame fest here, if you have something constructive to say, sure, point it out, but please don’t bring topics from recent articles into this one.

Thank you,
