[TB4CP] Riding the Wave of Change

Day 3,081, 07:43 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

Greetings America, please allow me to get right to the point. I am running for Country President of the eUSA in the month of May. I have done this more than a few times now. For many of you my qualities for good or ill are well known. Rather than spit out what titles and posts I have held I will tell you about my eRepublik philosophy. I am not ashamed to say I love this game. I love the community we have built up around this game. I love the interactions within said community. I love that we are provided a venue to interact not just with people from all over this country, but people from all over the world.

The last time I ran for CP my platform was inclusion. The underlying idea is that if all groups are given a stake in the running of the country, they’ll buy in, and take ownership. I still very much believe in that idea. My experience has been that when you bring a diverse group together through a common goal lasting bonds are formed. My hope is to replicate the camaraderie forged in previous administrations while also giving fresh faces a chance to shine on the National stage.

As of this writing there are no other candidates for President this month. However, the aim of this campaign is to both inspire and earn your vote. The nation and the community deserve nothing but the best efforts of those who would lead. I will do no less. For years now many of us have stubbornly held on while watching so many of our friends head for the exits. Forums and IRC rooms that once buzzed with activity have grown ever quieter. What was once a daily flood of new players (300+) has slowed to less than a trickle. The expectations and learning curve for higher office have relaxed somewhat from where they were several years ago. That makes it that much more important that we find and prepare a rising generation of Leaders. We’re shrinking as a community, but that makes prepping fresh players all that much more important.

Those of us who remain grimly go on. I intend to be here until the servers go off. I have seen too many give too much for the betterment of the eUSA and eRepublik as a whole to give up. It is not uncommon for even a small group of seasoned players (the polite way to say oldfag) to allow the conversation to drift towards a nostalgic remembrance of players past. It’s a bittersweet topic as it is fun to discuss old election tactics, old friends, and a more vibrant community. However, it can also be depressing and a bit discouraging. I have often heard new players ask if the game has become so terrible why continue to play? I believe it is because we hope for the dawn of a better day. With the recent announcement from Admin we might just might be on the verge of just such a day. Plato may be finally pulling his collective head from his collective ass.

No doubt by now everyone is aware that there are incoming changes. We will once again be fighting resource wars. The State Department and our current President Melissa Rose have been hard at work finding training wars and making arrangements for the upcoming wars. We are already in a strong position to ensure the eUSA continues to enjoy full bonuses in her cores even with the new resources and industries incoming.

Until more specific information is released about these upcoming changes all we can do right now is speculate. However, one thing is certain there will be many opportunities for True Patriot damage and Freedom Fighter medals in the upcoming months. To accommodate the many wars we will have open for resource tokens the NSC will be greatly expanded. Yui and Resoula the current team have done a very good this month, but they are only two people. I am looking to have at least four active players from varying time zones for the month of May.

While the general description of the inbound updates sound good I am cautiously optimistic. It has been years now since I have seen an update that truly solved the problem it was meant to address. Some of the updates caused problems that did not exist before (read Dictatorship), but for now I am doing my best to hope that we may finally see significant improvements to key areas of game play. The aforementioned dawn of a better day could be just over the horizon.

We cannot do the job of this game’s administrators for them, but we can strive to work with what we have. There are still players in each Party with talent. Some of them just need a chance to put those talents on display. This will once again be a point of emphasis of my administration. The talent pool may be shallow right now, but it is not empty. In past runs for President I have had my Cabinet either completely constructed before announcing, or nearly completely constructed. This did not leave much room for those who contacted me about working in my administration.

At least not in the Secretary level jobs, though players like JadenA and Illiguy started as Deputies workers, and are both considered rising stars for their work ethic and talents. This time around while I have compiled a comprehensive list of possible Secretaries I have decided to hold off on offering quite a few of them so I can gauge the interest of players I may not have thought to put on my list. If you have interest in working for my Administration please contact me.

A wave of change is coming for better or worse. Pacifica, USAF (once again), bonuses, and possibly the very structure of our central government are in flux. I have plans in place for the changes we know will be occurring. Over the course of the next week or so I will be unveiling those plans for the consideration of the voters. The goal is to ride this wave of change and emerge stronger, more unified, and once again in an enviable geopolitical position. Until next time I thank you for reading!
