[Stanwick]Declaration of Candidacy
Chris Stanwick
My fellow Belgians,
Today marks the halfway point of mittekemuis' presidency. I have been honoured to be a member of her government and take part in the debates over implementing a new Supreme Court, diplomatically diffusing a potential war with France, negotiating new MPPs to bring us daily battles, possible future mergers with another nation, and the new economic module that sent our economy spiralling into chaos. mittekemuis has handled each of these situations with grace and ability, calmly leading Belgium into a new era.
Already this month, there have been at least three citizens declare their candidacy for president in June. While they may have a variety of qualifications and might even be good presidents, I feel that they are not enough for us at this time. Belgium is currently at a turning point and we need a strong leader to help us decide which way to go. I can be that strong leader and guide Belgium to greatness as an independent, sovereign nation that is not afraid of its neighbours.
I have served continuously in the Cabinets of the last five Belgian presidents as a Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, and Minister of Defence. I am currently in my ninth term as a member of Congress, my second in Belgium. I am the Party President of the United Belgian Independents Party, the third largest party in Belgium. In the past, I have served in Cabinet positions in the USA, Australia, and Thailand over the last two years. I have commanded armies and represented my nation in international alliances. I have made many friends, many of whom have served as presidents, Congress members, party leaders, military commanders, and Cabinet officers in every nation in the New World. I even had a law library named after me in the USA and was the focal point (and deity) of an eRepublik religion.
I have already made a few comments as to what I plan to do as president on the forum. As this is solely a declaratory article, and the election is still two weeks away, I will not mention my platform now. This article is about Chris Stanwick, the man - who I am and what I have done. Do not vote for me based on this article. Read my platform when I post it after the Congressional elections, then decide whether or not you want to vote for me.
Thank you,
Chris Stanwick, June 2011 CP Candidate

I support this message 🙂
and look forward to your manifesto...

The United Belgian Independents Party have been created by you as a brother party to the US Independents Party (same ideology, same logo, etc...)
You're currently our Minister of Defence. Today, on irc, when a belgian have told that he will maybe enter the UltraMarines militia, you stated that if a UltraMarines "eurosquad" is created, you will consider disbanding the Belgian Armed Forces and replace it by a self-funded militia and provide it a monthly funding (self-funded but with a monthly funded ? 😁 but it's not my point)...
Do you plan to align our country on your RL and old eCountry's (USA) national politics and army orders (well, the UM are not the national army, but you got the idea) ?
As BAF soldier and Belgium for Belgians party member, i will be interested to get more informations on these points... Thanks in advance to erase my concerns and good luck.
TR, I would be glad to address your concerns. On IRC, I happened to see discussion about the possible creation of a European branch of the Ultramarines since several former Belgians seem to be joining the American branch. My comment wasn't official or even indicative of what I plan as president. It was speculative. The UK and Canada are two nations that have moved away from a national army in favour of militia based militaries that still receive government funds, but are also self-sufficient when necessary. I will bring up the issue of moving away from national army to militia-based in Belgium to encourage debate on the issue and get opinions. I will not press for the disbandment of the Belgian army unless that is what the army and Congress want. Right now Belgium does not have overwhelming militia presence, so it is not practical to move away from the national army, but it is something to consider in the future.
I realize that UBIP is closely aligned with the American UIP, but we are completely independent from the UIP at the same time. My allegiance is to Belgium, not the USA. We have our own allies (that are enemies of the USA coincidently), our own issues, and our own way of doing things. Unless the people of Belgium decides otherwise, we will continue to support the allies that we have and cooperate with their militaries to utilize our own most effectively. And while I do live in the USA in RL, I am not an American. My decisions will not be swayed by their policies.
I hope this alleviates your concerns. If not, feel free to ask more questions and I will answer further.
Good luck Chris!!
Good luck Chris !
Thank you Chris for answering Thomas' words. That is something many of us may have been wondering.
And Good Luck.
