[Spain vs Portugal] Opinion and analysis (with various CP's opinion)

Day 2,185, 04:55 Published in Portugal Portugal by Nuno Vieira

Dear friends,

This is just another article about the well known conflict between Spain and Portugal, based on real facts and also in my personal opinion. At the end you will find opinions from some CPs about this war.

Spain - the beginning

When everything seemed calm, Spain decides to adopt an aggressive stance and the launch of a NE based on dubious facts. Two months of failed negotiations are not an excuse for an attack, especially when these negotiations failed due to the aggressive demands by the Spanish Government.

The attack on the Norte region proves this attitude is only for revenge and strenght demonstration to get through the military way what they never got on the negotiating table. The failure starts with the already provided proof that the attack was premeditated and they were confident of winning the aluminum in Norte, confirmed by the President of USA in his article where he states that the order is to fight along with Spain with a view to having Maine back as a payback for the assistance. Spain is trowing back regions to a recent enemy in exchange for help against a pro-TWO country. They are completely out of control and using strategic thinking like a 10 years old kid.

While they can not win Norte the other bonuses begin to fall like dominoe pieces. First is Azores and every resources in North America. Then, the grain with a RW in the Algarve region and the war begins to enter in Spanish territory with the successful attack from Portugal in Castilla y Leon. When it was thought that Spain was going to respond with more fire power they encounter one of the biggest nightmares in all the Spanish history: A new MEK Day begins in Guayana. MEK are a real nightmare in Spanish venezuelan colonies.
The route to those important resources in Venezuela are now without a path to mainland and some time later the capital Madrid is isolated with the conquest of Castilla la Mancha, leaving one of the most powerful countries in the world reduced to one single resource.

In my opinion, whatever happens next, Spain lost the war precisely at the time they took a bad set of strategic options and especially for having adopted an attitude even more arrogant than they already had. They despised Portugal, disrespected their allies in TWO, and above all, they completely ignored the stability of the alliance of which they take part.

TWO - the hassle

After months trying to mediate the negotiations, HQ of TWO look back and they only see a huge loss of time expended over that matter. The attitude of Spain puts the alliance in a very awkward position, being obliged to give its official support to something that most citizens of their countries disagree. It is perfectly natural that TWO supports who is a founding member of the alliance, however we all know this is a very critical situation and there are more countries involved in the conflict. The last article from TWO is very clear in showing to everybody the whole mess ceated by Spain in this matter, with the HQ saying they will hit hard to secure Spanish positions in the map against the opponents. Well, those opponents are mainly TWO or pro-TWO nations, probably half of the Serbian population, half of the Slovenians and so on.
At a time when TWO is the only alliance organized as such, and the world is going through a new geo-political transformation, it is important not to let this conflict be used as the new alignments that could cause sudden severe fractures within the alliance. What matters is not only what TWO’s HQ and governments think but also the positioning of citizens that can lead to internal political transformations in different countries and can turn to big changes of directions in some nations.

Portugal - the appropriate response

The best answer from Portugal was the way they kept their own identity. They showed no fear and did not fall into the temptation to take refuge in a new positioning, keeping in line with the same path that brought them here, being a proud pro-TWO country. Quickly became apparent that the attack was also a way to bring down the relations of Argentina with TWO and over that matter, again, Portugal was humble enough to issue an article denouncing this fact and asking Argentina not to get envolved, even if it meant a defeat and a new wipe.
Portugal not only got the support from his seven MPPs but also got unofficial support from various corners of the world. Those who were aware of the battles easily spoted different nationalities fighting along with the Portuguese and it is also a proof that the world is still aware of what is going on and not living only in a blind idea of fighting with no causes.
Throughout all the battles the Portuguese soldiers have been very active and committed, which resulted in a landslide victory in the divisions D1 and D2 aswell as D3 with major victories over a better opponent. Spain can still come up with a reaction and delete Portugal from the map but what matters now is that the small country, using a remarkable strategy, reduced a major nation to a single resource: Fruits, Spain is now all about Fruits.

Finally I leave you with a few opinions i gathered from various country Presidents in answer to these 2 questions:

1 - What do you think about this war?
2 - Do you think both countries should stop this war and reach an agreement?

Poland - Prophet009
1 - I think that war is interesting and finally bringing some emotions
2 - However as a typical diplomat i'd suggest to reach some kind of agreement. that satisfy both sides

Serbia - Petar Popara Crni
1 - I think this isnt way that some proTWO country becomes TWO, and on other way also, how TWO country starts war in a time when we need good coordination.
2 - Yes. Best way is asap start negorations to reach an agreement.

Turkey - Eldarion Sionnodel
1 - Portugal has our full support because we don't like bullies.
2- We support also Portugal for agreement. If portugal think an agreement is best for them we support them too.

Croatia - john_rambo
1 - it is excellent war. the reason why i say like that is only cos it can give a new wind into eworld, a quit this rought domination of one side...
2 - and answer for second one is obvious: NO 🙂

USA - NewAzazel
1 - I put my stance on the war here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-potus-some-updates-and-information-2339320/1/20
2 - If they can reach an agreement, that is always good. But it appears Portugal isn't interested in that anymore.

Greece - taxoparei
1- It should have never started, we are draining our owm dmg. I guess someone found an opportunity and took it but I think that a diplomatic solution would be best for everybody
2- Be done with it already

Lithuania - ZygaLTU
1 - I would most likely say that I have no opinion. I did not get into much detail what happened there, so I cannot truly state my opinion. I know that Portugal wanted to go proTWO, but Spain disagreed with that...
2- Yes, sure, if an agreement would be reached it would be beneficial for everyone 🙂

Slovenia - Ice Killa
1 - My thoughts about this war are absolutely clear. I do not support the aggression of Spain towards Portugal and am of the opinion there was no need for the unprovoked attack. Spaniards had all the resources prior to war and could have easily kept the status quo. While having no deal, there would on the other hand be no war. War was declared and the consequences of past Spanish actions have come to life (people refusing to fight for a TWO member even though they are part of TWO). May I mention that even the Chilean CP fought for Portugal (I have a screenshot to prove that).
2 - Yes, I absolutely support a possible agreement. Even if it may sound utopian at this point, I believe an agreement between both sides is reachable. TWO HQ and the involving parties must get behind the same table and strike a deal to stop this lunacy.

Argentina - elinternacional
1 - I think this is a non sense war since Spain was not in the need to attack Portugal.
2 - si, deberian llegar a un nap que sea logico y beneficie a ambos. Yes, they should get to a logical NAP to benefit both sides.

Thank you,
